lightweight and effective. wore it once in extremely heavy rain, worked good. good for shade too. looks goofy but keeps your neck and shoulders from burning. tiny discreet logo, barely visible, hat arrived as pictured, but with a crease. Wet the hat and flatten it to remove the crease.

The brim on this hat is quite wide - 4 1/2" front, 4 3/4" back, 4 3/8" sides and looks like it will provide great sun protection. The top is a first for me - it's constructed like a tent's rain fly. The crown is mesh, and above that is a solid piece of fabric anchored by 4 plastic snaps. This means that you could remove the "cover" if you wanted a completely mesh crown. With the cover in place, there is a 3/4" H x 2" W section low on the sides where the mesh is not covered by the fabric.The brim is stiff, which I like. For a wide brim, drooping could be problematic and I don't expect this to be an issue. There are plastic snaps on the side of the brim and the crown that I suppose are designed to enable securing the side "Aussie" style. The brim is so stiff that initially I am not sure this will work well. The hat's packaging comes with the hat folded, so there is a crease in the brim. This can probably be pressed out (cold iron only) . It's very minor but some might find this irritating.I expect this hat to provide excellent sun protection and I am very happy with my purchase. The hat was manufactured in China but appears to be well-made. The money back guarantee is an added bonus which I don't anticipate needing.Update: After 6 months of wear, I really love this hat. The brim is sturdy enough to flip one side (the down sun side) up. It's not "full Aussie" but raises the substantial brim high enough to get good views of canyon walls. (There are snaps that might allow the full-Aussie effect, but the brim is pretty stiff and the hat-side snap is on mesh fabric and I don't want to stress it. The other thing I like about the brim is that the rear is somewhat longer, so when the sun is low in front I just reverse the hat to get extra shading.I asked about washing it since I was concerned about the integrity of the brim. I've soaked it for half an hour without any ill effects. I now just chuck it into the pool for 30 minutes to an hour and it does the job.

Even though this hat is sold for fishing, I bought it for my husband who likes very much hiking. He just loved it! Before he used a sports cap, made of dry-fit. However, this one has mesh on top to keep you fresh at all times. We live in Costa Rica and it's very sunny at this time of the year. Also, the hat wings provide great protection from the sun.

Wide brim. Makes me look like the preacher from Poltergeist II.

The hat fit great (I have a large head). I ordered Khaki but received gray. Also, the top does not snap on and off. It is completely sewn down. There is mesh on the sides. I will keep because it fits my head, but which they would have sent the one that is advertised in the photo.

The hat arrives with a crease in the brim. It doesn't self-correct and therefore doesn't perform as advertised and doesn't look as shown - droops on both sides. Crease is noticeable
