THE WORLD IS FULL OF UNKNOWNS. We cannot possibly predict what is going to happen every minute of the day, but we can prepare for it. In the gear we carry, the clothes we wear, the mindset we hold. Whether we are on duty or off duty, in our country or out of cell-range. THIS IS NOT JUST A MOTTO. This is not just a line on a t-shirt. This is how we live our lives. No matter what happens, we push forward, not out of the absence of fear, but in spite of it. Because we trust our instincts, we trust our training, and we trust our gear. At 5.11, we don’t simply inspire readiness, we are readiness. IT ALL STARTED WITH A PAIR OF PANTS. The FBI training academy adopted the original 5.11 pant as its training pant in 1992, forging a decades-long relationship that drives 5.11’s commitment to public safety and the first responder community. 5.11 Tactical began developing a more extensive law enforcement line in 2003. Our designers work together with public safety professionals to create gear that meets the needs of real people in the field. In 2012, we rose to the challenge of redesigning our women’s collection to create better fitting and higher performing options. Our women’s category has grown to include premium uniforms, covert clothing, fitness apparel and more. Today, 5.11 is expanding into the outdoor and fitness markets with products like the Vaporlite short and the ABR trainer. we are determined to meet these new challenges with the same grit and fortitude that has always defined our brand.

Buy em
Got them March,2018 and wear them all the time; no stitches or seams broke. I shoot a lot of sporting clays for years now, I fill the back pockets up 25 shells a pocket and never had any issues. The little fabric strap above the rear right pocket is a little annoying but love these things. 10/10

My New Favorite Shorts
I prefer shorts and jeans that securely carry my large cell phone in a way that does not displace my keys or EDC setup (knife, small flashlight etc). 5.11 pants and shorts, while pricey, do best fit this need for me.The rear slash pockets of these shorts with inside velcro closures serve well for my phone EXCEPT I must remove it when I sit so I do not put body weight upon it. Objects in this pocket will sit low and behind the upper mid-thigh. This is not a deal-buster for me.I enjoy wearing these while cycling as they prevent the contents of my pockets from loosening or falling while riding on bumpy terrain.I think they look sharp and clean and not baggy or loose as the messenger shorts I normally wear.10 out of 10 for function and meeting my very specific needs.

The best design with an awesome slash pocket
I have had many pairs of "cargo" shorts. But these are just awesome. Not only do they have all the normal pockets. The rear slash pockets are perfect for everything. Hot day working outside, through a 32 oz gatorade in that pocket. Doing a DIY project, those pockets are perfect for the toolbox of handtools needed. They are literally huge but not obtrusive.

My third purchase over 10 years
These 5.11 tactical shorts are the very best I have ever had. Water/stain resistant. Plenty of pockets and the elastic waist line makes for a comfortable fit. Very well made. Double stitched everywhere. Gusseted. Superior long lasting velcro, never had it fail. I am 6'-1" @ 250lbs and the fit is perfect, leaving me ample room to do all tasks. I am extremely satisfied. Priced right.

Great All-round pants, with 2 major gripes
I've been wearing Taclite Pro pants & shorts for years. I'm a firm believer in on-person carry, and my pockets are filled to the brim with essential items for my day-to-day life. My work allows me to wear cargo pants, and even shorts, so I've worked out a edc system around these pants. With a good duty belt, I personally use Blue Alpha Gear belts, these pants/shorts comfortably hold 7-8lbs of gear. This particular model was first introduced to me by my EMS friends, who wore these as on duty pants. I currently have 6 pairs of Taclite Pro pants, and this recent purchase brings me to 3 pairs of shorts. The oldest pair has lasted me coming close to 4 years. Yes they have a few holes in them from abrasion and wear, & the water resistance has become worse, but for pants that sold for $30-40, these are awesome. Not only do I wear them for work, but I've done week long backpacking trips in these. If you are looking for a pair of inexpensive cargo/tactical pants, these are my primary recommendation.BUT, I have 2 major issue with these. For every pair I've bought after 5.11 changed productions, all of the stitching ends were loose. Since 5.11 has made these more expensive, now around $50 for shorts, it'd be great if they'd either tie off the stitching ends or burn the ends, so the stitch don't unravel with use. You can distinguish the old production from the new production from the zipper snap. The design for the snap button above the zipper has changed to a simpler design, just 5.11 & their logo to the right, with the new production. From rotating through the pairs I own, I've realized that the new production pairs have varying tolerances. I don't know if this is an issue with their Quality Control, or if it's tolerable with the company. Especially for the front right thigh pocket (the small one up front), on some pairs, the pocket is wider, on other pairs the pocket is deeper. This is the pocket I keep my phone in, and in the older production pants/shorts, my IPhone7 w/ OtterBox Commuter case will fit perfectly. But with the new productions, there is varying slop with each pair I wear. This could be said with other pockets, but the most noticeable ones for me is this one and the front left thigh pocket (the small one w/ velcro closure).

These shorts are perfect. Tags are new everything on in his new as you could see. I also purchased some pants. Unfortunately, the pants are used worn out nowhere near the price I paid however, the shorts are perfect. The clear definition of “spanking Brand new”

Great Buy!
My husband (Kev) loves his shorts! We work at the range and he uses these all the time because he does not like to wear pants whatsoever. He says they are comfortable and he would buy more when he needs to get them. Highly recommended.

Name brand price
The fit well. Plenty of pockets to carry everything you can think of. Pants will bead of small amount of water or other fluids. Length is good if you like it just above the knee and 6ft 5in. You are paying for the name brand. In the EMS and Fire community 5.11 are worn by everyone. They do make good items but at a price. I have found as good quality in other brands for half the price.
