Great Addition to a Salad
Got used to eating seafood salad at the sushi bar where you get a 4 ounce bowl for $6.00. Thought why not at home.I just take out a 2 finger pinch, drop it into the bottom of a 2 cup measure, cover with cold water, and let soak for 5 minutes. It expands to 10 times its size so start off with what looks like too small a quanity. I then drain the water out through my fingers and dump rehydrated seaweed on a piece of paper towel. After a few minutes, I cut up the pieces into smaller pieces with a kitchen scissor. It then goes into a small bowl and I add a sesame or other Asian dressing with some sliced and chopped cucumbers, onions, and tomatoes. Sometimes I will add cabbage, lettuce, or bok choy. Add celery or whatever you have.Hard to describe the seaweed except that it is colorful, loaded with minerals, and has a wonderful slippery/different consistency in your mouth. It really makes a salad special. I notice that you can buy capsules filled with seaweed powder on Amazon. Eat it in a salad instead.

This seaweed tastes like the ocean.
I usually get the seaweed in the dried compact blocks, which are fine. I tried this product to have something to use right in the dish without first presoaking. I use these mushrooms to make Hawaiian Poke and Chinese Hot and Sour soup. Amazon makes it possible to order seaweed, lilly buds, woodear mushrooms, candle nuts, roasted coconut, yellow bean sauce, fermented black beans, crab paste, and so on, I can now make all the Asian foods that I crave from childhood (restaurants in SF, LA, NYC, and Paris). Poke is all the rage right now and this product works beautifully in it. I usually pair it with raw salmon or raw tuna. Rinse in water to soften and to remove salt. There is no substitute for real seaweed. The price is comparable to the block dried seaweed.

GREAT TREAT
Stuff tastes great with olive oil and salt pepper and vinegar. Way better than the stuff I get from sushi and oriental restaurants. Only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is because the instructions say not to leave it in water for more than ten minutes. Unfortunately if you follow these directions the seaweed is not done expanding and it's texture is a little too hard and grisly all most. If you let it soak for like 2 more minutes it's perfect.

Possibly contains heavy metals, non-returnable
There's a warning label on this saying it contains an ingredient known to cause cancer in the state of California. So I did a little digging and it turns out certain seaweeds from certain places contain high amounts of heavy metals like lead and mercury. Seaweed can bio-accumulate heavy metals like fish and if the seaweed comes from polluted water then it is not good to eat. This item is non-returnable so I'm just going to throw it away since I'm not convinced that it's safe to eat. Here's some information on which brands and types of products have what and how much of various metals: [...]

A Great Mix and a Great Buy
This item might seem expensive, but it expands so much that you get a lot more than you think. One bag will last me quite a long time as I only soak a bit at a time because it expands like crazy. It is a great mix for soups, salads and other delicious inventions. Highly recommended.

Highly recommend!
I use this product to make a delicious, healthier version of the seaweed salad I like to order from Chinese restaurants. I doesn't taste exactly like it does there, but it is delicious!
