Compared to Vertx and Condor...
First off I have a small head so this hat fits right on the money. If you got a larger melon don't worry you can make it wider with the adjustable Velcro. So first off I will say I'm comparing this hat to condor and vertx because I bought all 3 in the pursuit of the perfect hat for my liking. Vertx was HUGE the crown was more along the lines of a trucker hat and some areas were wider with tons of excess material they sort of just folded instead of trimming but the pattern was really good in color. Next is condor and while I can say condor has my favorite profile because it is the shortest of them all the material they use is so soft that the hat just mushes up and looks sloppy also the stitching and Velcro areas are a bit off which makes sense since it's made in China. Now with this hat the pattern is as good if not better in some areas (at least the hat I got ) than the vertx with no excess material and not like condor the stitching is superb I mean they made the made in America stamp proud. The crown of the hat is not the lowest profile I've ever seen but that's also an opinion based on my small head however not like condor or vertx it's an even crown that holds its shape very well and looks perfect which ever way you rock your hat. So take my review for what's it's worth and add it to your tool box. I'm also prior infantry and currently Law enforcement so camo is important to me ... Lol.

Disappointed & Sad
I was happy to find an American made hat, and more than willing to spend the extra money to support our workforce, but my experience has left me with no other option than to buy a Chinese version that has higher quality control, like a similar hat sold by 5.11This hat has everything I was looking for - a loop patch up front for a 2"x 3" American flag, a 1"x 4" rear loop patch for a name tag, bill with a black underside, soft & unstructured cap panels and a camouflage pattern that reminded me of the pattern my unit painted on our rifle platforms when we hit the sand box overseas. We hung our M-4's by coat hangers and used stripped camo netting to create a pattern very similar to the Kryptek designs. The first hat I received had the bill sewn on at a crooked angle to the 6 panel "beanie" that makes up the main part of the cap. Amazon replaced it instantly, but the 2nd cap was just as bad as the first, except this time the problem was with the Velcro patches. They were sewn on crooked and off center.I figured I'd go straight to the source this time, and fired off an email to the Hank's Surplus customer support address included in the box. I included my concerns and photos. The reply was very quick, but I was surprised that the response from Mike was, "I can see it is slightly off". Selling a cap geared toward higher level military operations members should be, "dead-on and squared away", not dismissive with a, "slightly off" response. That doesn't cut it, with a $25 ball cap being purchased by a guy who didn't ever expect less than perfect with his kit. He did send back pictures of a hand-picked replacement - "This is the best one I can find in our inventory", but I saw that the Velcro was still off center. I shouldn't have to spend this much money on a hat that would then need a seamstress to fix at probably $15 or more.I told Hank's Surplus that I would return it through Amazon, who has stellar customer service.I guess I'll donate more of my American money to the Chinese war chest. That's what irks me the most.My photos are included. Yes, you're probably calling me a particular body part now. So did a lot of my soldiers, but I got most of them back home safe because of it.1st & 2nd pic - front patch lower on one side.3rd & 4th pic - name patch off center to the right.

Buy this, not that
Originally I purchased a competitor hat from condor. Unfortunately they stopped making the hats in America and it shows. This hat IS made in America and the quality also shows. Straight velcro, size adjustment that doesn't look like poop, oh, and the hat hasn't fallen apart after daily wear.If condor hats are your thing, this hat is better in every way.

Made in America quality!
I’ve worn this hat everyday for 6 months, not a loose thread one! It fits my head perfect, and looks good doin it. Superior quality. Plan to own this hat a long time

Made in USA
Solid product. Runs maybe a hair small. Back velcro is about 1/2" too short on each side for OCP-sized name tape.

Good but a bit stiff
The quality of the hat is very good but I'm hoping the fabric softens a bit as it breaks in. Previously I've mostly worn Condor tactical hats which are pretty soft. I like that this is an American made hat so I really hope it breaks in.
