I know that Heathspan is not allowed to make any medical claims for their supplements but I researched ways to reduce my triglycerides & pure EPA seemed to be the answer - there is a similar prescription-only product now available in the UK but I wanted evidence to take to my GP. I am vegan (3 years) & my headline cholesterol is low, however my triglycerides and 'good' cholesterol were not great unfortunately. I've been taking two of these pure EPA capsules a day for 7 months & recently had my bloods done & hallelujah, my triglycerides have reduced by 28% to a now 'acceptable' level!! Now, this may be completely unconnected - I have lost 14lbs in weight in the same timeframe, however my overall diet is the same. They are pricy but I'm convinced enough to keep taking them until I can persuade my GP to give me a prescription....

So I got yelled at when I took as many of these as I would with mere mortal omega 3s; my wife said the potency level is such that I shouldn't need as many. She pays attention to these things so I take her at her word here. No other ill effects or manufacturing defects to report.

This is very expensive for an omega3 supplement - healthspan's own "super omega 3" has 1200mg of omega3 (almost the same as this) and is a third of the price. The difference is that this is higher quality omega3 for athletes or those doing endurance sports because it has more EPA (for anti-inflammation) and less DHA (good for brain health). As a general omega3 source its therefore less balanced but for anyone doing gym workouts or similar and looking to recover more quickly and experience less DOMS, this is a great (if expensive) option.

Few supplements' health benefits are as well backed by research as omega-3 fatty acids, and there's subsequently a lot of choice on the market for anyone wanting to work them into their diets. As far as omega-3 supplements go, these are on the pricier side, but they are formulated with a safeguard for professional athletes, which will give peace of mind if you're supplementing for competitive sports.Even if you're not, then these are still a cut above standard omega-3 capsules, being a bit more palatable thanks to the subtle lemon flavouring and smooth, easily swallowed (although quite large!) capsules. And, of course, 1000mg per capsule is a decent dose per cap, with the packaging indicating that you can take two or three of these per day as required.I've purchased plenty of Healthspan products in the past and continue to do so as they're always reliable, great quality supplements. These are definitely on the premium side of that, so you know you're getting the best with this pack.

Important to remember that all the wonderful claims as to the high quality of this product have been written by the company that sells it. According to Healthspan, this is "exclusively sourced from warm water fish species, which contain a naturally higher concentration of EPA, it's highly distilled for unparalleled purity"Well, they would say that, wouldn't they?Me? I take that with a pinch of salt; it's just marketing schpiel.I have been unable to find any independent evidence that the contents of these capsules is of exceptionally high quality, and no evidence to rubbish my suspicion that the fish oil is basically the same as you'll find in most other fish-oil capsules.I've been taking the equivalent product from Seven Seas for literally decades - and they're a lot cheaper.But another product worth considering is "Nu U" Omega 3 Fish Oil 1000mg - 365 Softgel Capsules - Up to 12 Month’s Supply. Same size capsules, a YEAR's supply, and the price is about 12 quid. Very highly rated, too, from the Amazon reviews.So I'm unconvinced. I need to see independent evidence from a credible source that the Healthspan product is worth its very high premium, and as yet I've found nothing.

I'm not a medical doctor or a nutritionist, so I'm not going to make any claims about the benefits of this dietary supplement other than to say that after months of ingesting 2-3 of these 1000mg soft gels daily, I'm still in good health and haven't noticed any side effects. Is my health better than it would have been if I hadn't taken these? I'm not sure. That is the purpose of medical studies, and one may or may not believe them. However, returning to this product and evaluating it, this is what I can say after comparing it to the generic supermarket brand I used to take previously.It costs more, but not significantly more. The gels are softer, which makes swallowing them simpler. Unlike the generic brand, they do not appear to sit in my stomach for a long time, leaving me feeling like I swallowed a marble. There is no fishy smell.To sum up: this product seems to give fish oil that is highly pure and free of impurities and are easily swallowed and absorbed.

This Omega 3 fish oil comes in a plastic blister pack of 60 soft gels, which will last 2 months. These are high strength 1000mg of EPA 3 fatty acids capsules and of high quality through and through just as the product description says, which I read and sounded like music to my ears. Like EPA 1g essential daily intake.They are easy to swallow with plenty of water and so easy that I could swallow two at once. This Omega 3 fish oil is much better than other ones I've tried and can feel a noticeable difference.They make me feel good but I can't exactly pinpoint it. They are a very good price and keep you nice and healthy.Very good value for money.
