Child Mermaid Costume

Bought this for Halloween, it was perfect for a party at school that day. Agree with other reviews that sequins come off, and it is sized large - plan to order at least 1 size down. Daughter is 7, I went with the Child XS and it fit well. VERY helpful that description included extra measurements, so I was able to get the proper size. BE AWARE, the fins at the bottom don't puff up like they do in the picture - ours just laid there. After a night of trick-or-treating and running from house to house, the fabric/paper backing under the fins was shredded. But she didn't care - she was a mermaid! If you've got cool or cold weather trick-or-treating ahead of you (like we do in Chicagoland), you can't get a shirt underneath due to the design. I liked that it was a more modest costume, perfect for a 7 year old girl. Costume only comes with dress and headband; I found the boa shown at a local Halloween shop and while cute, it is scratchy on the neck.

Thought this looked like a really cute costume, looking at the photo. A little disappointed when it arrived and there is NO seaweed boa. Why show a photo of it if it does not come with it.

This is a cute costume for my 5 year old who loves anything mermaid at the moment. We purchased it for the playroom as a dress up item for regular use, rather than a one time use costume. My daughter LOVES it! I will caution you though that the sequins are merely glued onto the fabric, and not very well. They immediately started falling off all over the house the first time she wore it. Unfortunately, we had a spill on the costume, requiring that I wash it. I knew better than to put it in the washing machine, but even soaking it in the kitchen sink, it was a DISASTER. The sequins immediately started floating off and there were thousands of them all over the kitchen sink, counter, floor, etc... It took me the better part of an hour to slough them all off the costume so that it could be salvaged. I was able to hang it to dry, and it is still usable. However, I would definitely NOT purchase this again. No way! It was way too messy. I realize it is not made to be regularly laundered, but if something is made for children to play in, it has to at least be washable by hand in a pinch. Lesson learned about dress ups with sequins! :)

Great costume for my 5 year old but it does run big. Unfortunately I didn't have her try it on before we went trick or treating at the zoo a couple of days ago. We had to carry her at first so she wouldn't keep tripping over it. I didn't have anything on me but a hair tie, so I pulled her "fins" up and tied it up to keep it from sagging. It made the mermaid look like it had a tail, but it worked. I plan on just safety pinning it up for Halloween. I see a lot of people complain about this but I do think the material is great (it drug on the ground a lot and didn't cause any damage). It's $20 which I consider cheap for a costume these days!

My six year old daughter LOVED this costume, and I loved that it didn't look trampy like so many mermaid costumes. The only complaint I had was that the sequins fell off everywhere. It worked ok for the first use, and after that it was a sequin snowstorm. I just vacuumed the whole house and got thousands of of the shiny little buggers. The tail is almost completely sequin free now. I guess this will be an outside dress up toy now!

Size was ok but quality sucked picture makes it look as if the bottom looks that way when n actuality it is very thin. 👎🏾 my daughter was ok with it

My daughter loves this! Very pretty, age-appropriate costume. My daughter is 6 and ~50 pounds. I order the Small and it fits her perfectly, though it is a little long. So far all the sequins have stayed in place. She loves the seashell crown. The crown is cheap plastic, but the shells are pink shiny fabric over foam and could easily be put on another headband if the pink one breaks.

what a disappointment. it runs VERY LARGE, so my daughter was walking on the tail part, it's not easily washable, so our costume became another cheap plastic disposable toy. But my daughter LOOOOVED It for a week.
