Awesome game
This game is awesome. I bought this for my son after he played the Nintendo DS version of Age of Empires. This game is much more interesting and complex. Compared to Age of Empires II, there are better graphics and more things to do. The game is pretty realistic. It takes time to progress technologically and build. The game goes pretty in-depth when managing your empire. You have to build walls around your town, build an army, trade with other empires, and later destroy them as you become the sole power on the map. He enjoys the sea battles, as he builds his boats and launches them to fight against both other ships and towns. I recommend this to anyone wanting to pick up a strategy game. It is pretty realistic.

BUILD & CONQUER= Fun stuff!
My boys are obsessed with this game! They love all the "planning & tactics". So much so they have now shared their addiction with my husband. I know he shocked them looking up cheat codes.... like cheeseburger or something lol! So if you like the secret codes, this game has a bunch! The game graphics are clear. It runs smooth without any mishaps. A fun game building up your civilization & conquering your opponents. Shipping was prompt

dissatisfied.
I thought it was the microsoft age of empires series It wasn't. It is by Sega. In order to even play it I have to have internet connection which I don't have. I'm borrowing this public access computer to write this. I can't even get my computer to recognize it even exists when put into the tray. In all, a really waste of time and money.

AOE a great timeless game.
Bought this back in ‘12 and still play it on a monthly basis. Love the AOE franchise. Just leaving a review to let others know it’s a timeless strategy game to play that’s great for winding down :)

Not my kind of game
Doesn't move smoothly, and I was expecting something akin to Age of Empires II. I can see that it would be good for players such as teen males, who are really into that type of game, though. I probably won't play it again. It just isn't my idea of a fun game.

Age Of Empires III
I had a problem with the game right off the bat; I could not get the game to run like the trial game. After email and phone contact with Microsoft folks; I finally got the game to run. About 4 days worth of time; I found that the DEP feature I was using was locking out the game on my Windows 7 Pro x64 machine. The game ran fine on my Windows XP machine, so it was a puzzle; the fact that an obscure security feature was stopping the game didn't come to light right off. The old saying: It's always the last thing you try that fixes the problem is very true. Obviously you don't try to fix things more if they work! Microsoft even offered to send a new game, so they were trying to help in every way. I refused the new game, because the one I had worked on XP; I know, I'm foolish to turn down something free. After disabling the Data Execution Protection, the game ran great. I still play AOE II on the same machine and I found AOE III to be a big change. Once I got used to the "new" way of doing things with the game; I am very happy with it. It works great on Win XP SP2 and Win 7 x64 Pro versions. I'm way behind the times on game release date, but I wanted a change. I will be updating the game with the expansions and so on. I recommend the game for young and old.

A great next step
I've been an AOE fan for years. At this point my gaming is pretty scattered and inconsistent with the advent of a wife and children. Thats why its nice that this is a good next step from AOE2. Its great, improved and a ton of fun

If you've been in a long term relationship ( see 12 years a slave ) & your significant other suddenly materializes , posing provocatively in a near see thru nightie & you find yourself saying " You got that on backwards precious , the s*** stains are on the front ! " .... You'll find this to be an enchantingly wondrous alternative ...
