Classic Albums: So[Blu-ray]

A great dive into one of the finest albums ever recorded
What an interesting look into the conception, performance, and production of a true masterpiece of modern music. Peter Gabriel is such a down to earth, gracious artist. Some reviewers mentioned a bit of pretention from some of the interviewees, which I noticed as well. It doesn't really take anything away from the tone of this documentary. I wonder how I would sound if someone asked me to relate my experience after being locked in a barn for 10 months with an artist who sought perfection, and wouldn't settle for "just good enough".Anybody who hasn't listened to this album in it's entirety in one sitting is missing out. One omission that made me wonder is the use of the song 'In Your Eyes' in the movie 'say Anything'. No mention of that. It's one of the most powerful uses of a song in a movie that I know of. Cameron Crowe has a real knack for that.

Interviews with wierd elitists
Pretty much a documentary on the making of sledgehammer and the video. Worse, other than Gabriel, the drummer, and bassist, the people interviewed are absolute pompous jackasses. Normally these classic videos show the superstars and associated people has having matured and highlight there obvious genius. Not with this group. Gabriel was the genius behind So. Most everyone else where fortunate hangerons.

Insightful and moving
There aren't many folks like Peter Gabriel in this world. This documentary was quite insightful in viewing his "music making" process. I also appreciated the various artists that were brought into the album and how they fit in. Awesome...!!

This is a documentary — NOT a blu-ray edition of the classic Peter Gabriel album
When I purchased this, I thought I was buying a high resolution version of the "So" album. Actually, this is documentary on the making of the album. If you plan to buy it, make sure you know what you are getting.

In depth look at the creation of the album
Loved it - but wished they spent more time on each song. Seems like there was probably more material that could have ben included, but that might just be me. Well worth the watch.

Well Done Doc on One of the Best Albums of the Decade
1986 was a great year for albums. Among them were So and Graceland, two excellent albums all the way through that helped bring World Music to the forefront. This documentary goes through most of the tracks (6of9) of So, introducing the players and contributors as well as the producers and the location of the recordings. A good overview of the process of how this album came to be.

Lord Gabriel.
Lord Gabriel, Peter is just an "Earthly God" The only man I respect together with "The Ocean of Wisdom" Dalai Lama. The rest of Mankind is Doom for good. Malama 'Aina Kanaka Maoli no pilikia o'hana, Aloha.

Not the best in the series, but worth a watch.
Whilst interesting to find out the ‘story’ behind the album, I was hoping for a bit more info regarding the actual music and production techniques, as many of the other ‘Classic Albums’ documentaries focus on. Still, it’s worth a watch for a bit more insight in to the album. Even though they missed out ‘That Voice Again’ which is one of the best tracks on the album (in my opinion).

TOO SHORT and not really detailed.
I love Peter Gabriel and believe that he is a Genius. The album "So" is a materpiece, however, the DVD is average at best.I would not recommend it.

IN-CON-TOUR-NABLE
Y'a pas de mots assez forts pour en parler... Livraison excellente... j'ai enfin pu jeter ma vielle cassette avec sa bande magnétique si fragile, et revivre ce grand moment de carrière musicale...
