The Profoto Air Remote is the perfect compliment to your Profoto B1 or B2 system
The Profoto Air Remote is the perfect compliment to your Profoto B1 or B2 system. Here is the pitfalls of the unit and things you should remember. First and foremost the contacts are not always the best. I use two Nikon D750 cameras for shooting so I routinely switch the transmitter between cameras. In almost every outing there would be a series of 4 or 5 frames that would show-up black because the contacts just didn't get the right information when using the TTL. Fixing this issue is simple you just need to slide the unit out and back in and it works. The problem here is that if you are shooting a wedding or some event where you get no do-overs you might miss the shot. The second piece of information is that you need to have plenty of AAA batteries on hand the unit is good for about 1000 frames on one set of batteries. This is not bad but as an event shooter who averages 400-500 images per event this means I am swapping batteries ever other event. These two notes above are the only negatives I can say about this transmitter. Now they may seem seriously to some but you get miss fires on almost every strobe system including speedlights so the few I see are nothing to worry about. The battery issue is annoying but really I am still in love with this system and couldn't recommend it enough.

Will not turn on
Order a new Air remote ttl-n for a shoot tomorrow. Tried 3 different sets of batteries and will come on after 6 to 8 times then turns back off. Really disappointed because it ruined my shoot for tomorrow which means I lost money.

BIG SWING AND MISS PROFOTO
I can't imagine why Profoto would update the Air Remote to have TTL/HSS but then remove half the Groups (goodbye D, E, and F). That just really, really annoys me.The Paul Buff CyberCommander can control up to 16 lights, it's been out for 10 years, and yet Profoto's new remote can only control 3?? That's just downright stupid, and if it wasn't for the HSS (1/8000 shutter sync on my D850!) I would have returned this and hung onto the non-TTL version.Pro tip: If you're only in the studio stick with the older model which let's you control 6 lights (which in my opinion is still short- 10 would be ideal).Shame. On. You. Profoto.

Profoto Air Remote TTL-N
First off, I've been a pocket wizard user for a long time. I love these units but setting them up can be sometimes tedious. Having the receiver built in to the strobe is a really convenient feature & the Profoto Air Remote covers this need. I've been using this unit for several weeks now & I can say that for the most part it performs very well. Set up & pairing with the strobe is very easy. Control of the model light from the remote is a neat feature. The display & layout on the remote is intuitive. What I did notice is that the strobe will not fire from time to time causing me to miss my shots. Now as a professional, this can be very problematic when you loose those crucial shots due to the equipment not functioning as it should considering the cost of purchasing this unit. Not exactly sure on the cause but this is something to keep in mind. This product is recommended.
