HanayamaCast Puzzles Premium Series ~ Chess Puzzle ~ Set of 6 Pieces

I enjoy playing chess (albeit very poorly) I saw a review of the pawn and rook. Decided I needed the entire set (for my own amusement). Definitely worth it.

These pieces are not only great for gismo puzzle lovers like my son... but also beautifully made. And as always Kudos to Amazon for awesome delivery.

If you're a Hanayama fan these are a mixed bag. Some are clever and fun; some like the bishop are clunky and actually mine got permanently stuck. I guess these might make a nice decorative display, but if you're hoping as I was for top-shelf, pinnacle of Hanayama brilliance these aren't it.

This puzzle is extremely imprecise and will leave you incredibly frustrated. I expected better from Hanayama and from a metal puzzle. The machining is of incredible poor quality. These puzzles are very expensive for how poorly they are made and simple they are. They are all essentially the same puzzle with a tiny change to each one. They look nice on your shelf but they are very simple and poorly made.

It wasn’t bad it’s just for kids. I thought it would oppose some type of challenge the higher ranking the chess pieces got. But it didn’t. The bishop and queen gave me a little problem. I solved all of them within 15 minutes. But it’s overpriced. Anything over $60 is way too much. I will say this it looks beautiful on my dresser after it’s been solved and it’s a conversation piece. That’s it. Save your money. I really wanted to return it right after I bought it. The packaging and everything is Top tier. Even if you never open it it looks good around the house. There’s better puzzles for you to buy. If you want to buy a few out the bunch I suggest the bishop and queen. If money is no issue buy the set. There’s a way to open it and reseal it if you want to keep it nice and package after it’s all set and done.
