This is a great product. The last one my family had was the exact same one. We had it for about 3 years and we would have probably had it a lot longer but my 2 year old put the eraser end in it and got the metal piece stuck inside the sharpener. At any rate, this sharpener sharpens very quickly, it's quiet and the it sharpens the tip to a very sharp point, yet the point doesn't break off when you're writing. I highly recommend this sharpener. You really can't go wrong. It may be a bit more pricy than other pencil sharpeners, but it's really worth it. As long as this product is being made, I'll be using it.As for the shipping, I received the product quickly - within about 4 days, 5 at most, and the product was in perfect condition.

This pencil sharpener was trash. It was scared up on all sides and the metal collar that you insert the pencil through was chewed up like someone tried to stick knives in it. It was filthy dirty, there were pencil shavings inside the shaving receptacle and also shavings on the outside and stuck to the rubber feet. There was not any attempt to wipe it clean. The scars all over the sides are unexplained for a tool that usually sits on ones' desk. It looked like it had been dragged behind a car. I don't know how a pencil sharpener could be that beat up. I would in no way put one of my expensive color pencils in that. I was insulted that I was charged full price for what was a piece of trash. It was returned. I could not even give this product one star.

I love this pencil sharpener! My child's teacher has one, and it's so amazing that I had to have one. However, this one being used, it doesn't seem to work quite as well our teacher's (thus only the 4 star rating). I can only assume that the one I purchased doesn't work as well due to previous use. It really is a shame that Panasonic stopped making this product, it ROCKS, and I would definitely purchase one brand new if available.

This is the one to get if you do colored pencil art (and can find one).It sharpens to a perfect 16 degree point and stops. It doesn't keep grinding away after the point is sharp. This is good because colored pencils can be so expensive. No need to grind away more than needed. So far, there has been no carryover in color from one pencil to the next.Cleaning is simple; just pull out the shavings tray and dump it.You can use this with one hand. It it heavy enough that it doesn't move when you push a pencil in. It also has "suckers" on the bottom that secure it firmly to a smooth surface. No need to hold the sharpener at the same time you are guiding the pencil in. This can sometimes be a problem on sharpeners where the pencil enters from the side rather than the top.My father used this sharpener and ones like it during his entire career as a draftsman, sharpening drafting leads for mechanical pencils. (Drafting pencils, not the type of mechanical pencils you usually use today with small diameter leads.) I expect similar durability. But, if something happens, the sharpener is mechanically simple enough that I believe it can be repaired, even though parts are no longer available. Or you can buy a used one for parts.

The sharpener works well, however they said was in “good condition” and it looks like was beat up. This is the best brand, so not much complain. :)

Great purchase! Sturdy, sharpens pencils to a fine point and stops when the pencil is at its sharpest. I bought this sharpener because of the reviews I read and I was tired of all my soft pencils breaking when I sharpened them using a cheaper Wescott battery sharpener or/and hand held tiny one.I've also recently discovered though that by buying my pencils together in a group boxed or in a tin they are less likely to be broken when I buy them. So that helped as well because they was less chance of them being dropped before I purchased them.I also only paid $49.00 for mine (new) here on Amazon and not the $67.99 or $99.00 now showing. Which is crazy high! So go figure.

I already have one these and it works great. So I bought another one for my child's teacher. It died fast from being used too much. Kind of a disappointment since it was a gift.
