Spiderman Volume 2-Marvel Masterworks
A total joy to read. I originally read these as a teenager in the early 80s but they were poor black and white British reprints. They really do not make comics like this anymore.I hope to get the third volume for Christmas. Sad reading old Spiderman comics aged 43? Who cares?

Spider-Man at his finest
I believe my earliest memory associated with Spider-Man came from a toy I got when I was about four years old. A simple little plastic guy with big white eyes and a spider logo on his chest. A cartoon show, a playstation game and a film later and he was naturally my favourite superhero growing up. A strong, agile, funny character with an inventive rogue's gallery, yet also a young relate-able man who suffers from the normal troubles of everyday life - when his loved ones aren't being killed and his friends aren't becoming his arch enemies at least. But as the times have gone by, so has our wall-crawler. He's finished school, he's got a job, he's been married (only for him to sell the marriage to the devil in a story no-one likes to talk about) and had the mind of his greatest enemy controlling his body and taking over his life. With all that history, where can we go to find a regular definitive Spider-Man story without all the bleakness of modern comics? Going back to the original stories proved to be a wonderful experience here, we find Spider-Man where he should be. A gawky kid in a ridiculous costume fighting various other people in even sillier costumes. I have found that reading classic stories of popular stories can have varying success. Batman's old tales are fantastic, while the X-Men are just awkward in their roots. This Spider-Man is the same Spider-Man we all fell in love with in the cartoons and movies (or the first two at least!), with Peter balancing his various love triangles with his career and his super heroics. Stan Lee's writing in this beautiful book has certainly aged, but certainly hasn't lost its touch, and Steve Ditko's classic art breathes life into Spider-Man in a way that it is rarely rivalled by his successors. Embrace your inner child and buy this comic. Why aren't you doing it right now??

I really enjoyed the stories in this volumes. Peter's misadventures in #17 made me laugh. Green Goblin is a such a interesting villain. MJ always being unable to appear, lol.

Great memories of when I read these comics from the sixties and now my grandson will also enjoy as this book is so well done.

This is the second volume of original Stan Lee & Steve Ditko spidey comics. Most plots are cheesy and have old fashioned dialogues but that only makes it more enjoyable.
