Chromatech water colour brush set
Bought these for my brother as a gift, he does a lot of water colour painting, he seemed very happy with them and informed me that he would get good use out of them

Absolutely brilliant
I bought these as a treat to myself, I couldn't afford the more expensive ones but I went with the ones that had the best reviews in my budget and these are them!I'm brand new to watercolour, I make cards and want to bring something different to the table. These pens are so easy to use! You can blend them easily and the colours are bright! I got the 54 pack and there's every colour you could ever want and more. They dry surprisingly quick which is great. I've only great things to say about these and from watching the videos on YouTube, they are going to last me quite some time!

Good product. Excellent value.
Excellent pens. Not quite up to Kuretake standard but brilliant for the price and would buy again.

Love theses pens
If you just want to colour in (like with felt tip pens ) these are not for you. These pens have a soft brush tip , so don't colour in solid. You need to use the water brush pen to activate the spread. Watch the video tutorial before you buy. It's all explained in there.

Dry, cheap feeling and less blendable than cheap brush pens
Was really excited to receive these, but sadly they disappointed right on opening. the pens don't sit neatly in the case, as the lids are a touch too big, and therefore they have a slight squished together look, not a major issue in terms of usage, but it is if aesthetics are important to you, it also means every lid needs to be lined up perfectly to see the colour names and numbers. The water pens feel really flimsy and cheap in hand, the plastic is really soft and feels like it would break easily, as they unscrew "the wrong way" forgetting this could quickly mean a broken pen, they also release water way too quickly. Then, finally we get to the pens themselves, the biggest disappointment of all, they were dry, varying levels of dry, but dry all the same. Out of the 10 pens I tried using, only one of them actually had a decent colour payoff. Some would work half decent as long as I only used the tip, some were dry and scratchy regardless of whether I used the tip or stroked, and one pen wouldn't give me colour, regardless of what I tried. The ones that did give me some ink I tried to blend, using my own methods and the tutorials, I get better blending using some standard brush pens I have than with these. With these the ink collects along the outside line, meaning no matter how much or well you blend, you get a heavy unblended outline, if you look for it on the tutorial videos you'll see even they have the problem, though it's not so noticeable in the videos, it will be in front of you. Even on heavyweight cold pressed watercolour paper the edge bleeding is really ugly, you'll notice on the tutorial pad the paper is "specially formulated for Chromatek watercolour pens" I expect so you don't notice the bleed so much, you will when you switch paper. If the pens dry on the paper, they won't blend anymore, so you need to work fast, hope your pen isn't too dry and work as much possible excess ink out of the edge line really as fast as you can, because you do not have long.Due to the high percentage of dry pens from the small sample I tested I returned these as faulty, I will not be purchasing again.

Pro’s & Con’s
3 ⭐️’s due to the pro’s and con’s of these brush pens. The pro’s are some lovely colours, well pigmented, swatch sheet’s, small watercolour pad, nice brush heads, no dry pens, nice to hold, tuts to watch for beginners. The con’s are, difficult to get an even wash and feel rushed as colours don’t move well once dry (unlike true watercolours). I prefer to use my own brushes as not keen on the ones that came with the pens. This last is not really a pro or con, it just really annoys me, as the colour names seem all wrong (uploaded a couple of swatch cards and you may see what I mean). The Brilliant Yellow seems more like Lemon to me whereas the Brilliant Yellow looks like a Canary Yellow. The Light Pink is darker than the Medium pink. Peach Pink does not look peach coloured due to the purple running through it. Amethyst doesn’t seem to look like amethyst and I could go on and on. Have they stuck the wrong colour names on the wrong pens? I’d love to know. Probably wouldn’t buy again but it’s early days and they might grow on me.
