This wireless/cordless system has both the 20x30 bed pad and chair pad. When the patient lifts their weight from either pad, the alarm will sound up to 100' from the pad. Pads are made of a high quality soft vinyl, incontinence protected and feature a layer of foam for more comfort for the patient. The alarm monitor is about the size of a large coffee cup and can be easily carried about the home. The alarm features 3 volume levels and an on/off switch. The bed pad should be placed under the lower sheet in the bed, or in the chair. When the patient lifts their weight from the pad, the alarm will sound. The caregiver can take the alarm anywhere up to 100' from the pads and still receive the alarm. This system will also wake the care person at night so they can rest easy, knowing they will know the moment their patient starts to rise from their bed. AC adapter for alarm included, or use 3 C batteries, (not included). Package also includes a pack of Kerr Antibacterial Pad Cleansing Wipes.

Works great, very helpful!
A must have if you need to know when your patient/loved one gets up from bed or chair. We got it for my mother in law after a broken hip. Hip break was result of some balance issues- during her recovery until she had more strength and balance, we needed to accompany her whenever she got up to walk around the house (eg to bathroom or kitchen etc.). However, because of memory problems she would always forget. We got the package with the chair and bed alarm. They worked great - for both of us. Alarm sounding would let me know when she got up and the sound of the alarm helped her remember to wait for help.

Caution
Some delay after patient gets up. Was sent programmed for chair and bed pad but was difficult to add additional components like the nurse call button.

Not good for someone who is already in bad health and ...
These pads have a several second delay. We could not take that chance with our mother so we returned them. She could have fallen in the floor before the alarm went off. Not good for someone who is already in bad health and had fallen twice before.

Great peace of mind
Works perfectly to let us know when our mom sits up in bed or stands up from chair. Great peace of mind.

Peace of Mind for Caregivers
This works just as described. I was concerned that my frail elderly mom, who has dementia, might fall in the night (without me being aware of it) if she woke up and attempted to navigate to the bathroom on her own. The bed pad was super easy to put in place, and sounded an alarm when she got out of bed. Once I knew that it worked well, I was able to relax and sleep much better--which is an important plus for a person who is already dealing with the multiple stresses of being a full-time caregiver.I did wish that the volume level was a little more adjustable; on the lowest 'chime' setting, it was still kind of loud for my needs if I kept the alert device in my bedroom. But actually there are a few options to choose, so it's still pretty good in that respect. I just ended up keeping it outside my bedroom door--it still woke me up just as needed, but didn't startle me so much.

Needs more instructions
Three of us tried to set this system up, using the instruction sheet, but could not get it to work. I was ready to send it back when I finally discovered the tiny on/off switches located on the battery packs. There is no mention of these switches in the instructions. Once they were turned on, and the pads were pressed on to set them up, the system worked fine. The pads are a little noisy to lay on, but if put under several layers of mattress pads, etc., not too bad to sleep on.

mixed review on chair and bed alarms
In general this is a good product, but we've found the short delay between when the person gets up from a chair and when the alarm begins to sound is just enough for my Dad to make it to his feet -- or to fall in front of the chair. The bed alarm is a bit better since it takes longer to first sit up and then begin to stand, so the caregivers usually have enough warning to reach him in time.
