Metal Earth German Flak 88 3D Metal Model Kit Fascinations ICONX

At the very beginning of the construction of the ICONX Flak 88, I messed up. The product is like photo etch but made of some sort of stainless steel. As a result I could not separate the part using a xacto from the fret so I was using a nipper. When I cut the last tab holding the piece it flew across my workshop. Despite about 1 hour of looking for it I couldn't find it. I contacted Fascinations by email to see if I could get a replacement part and two days later it arrived in the mail. I can't thank them enough for letting me go ahead making my model. One of the youtube videos said to always bend the last tab until it breaks in order to prevent fly-aways. Good idea.I also think these Metal Earth products are a really great gift. They are small, inexpensive, attractive and enough diversity to please both men and women.

The product parts are to difficult for me to get off of the initial parts sheets without bending the parts I need all up. I cannot separate them with small modeling snippers either.

Tough build. Overall, it's bigger than normal size builds. The cannon looks pretty cool. No moving parts. The cannon barrel is provided, which is nice. I found the instructions could be a bit more detailed. I ended up mounting the cannon in the wrong direction. Had to go back and reassemble some section s. Not much mention of orientation on the I structions. A couple pieces were a pain to bend. Some pieces came loose or are not attached very securely, which takes away upon close inspection. Overall happy with it.

PATIENCE IS THE WORD HERE. I NOW HAVE BUILT 55 OF THESE MODELS AND I'M 78 YEARS OLD. MOST HAVE AWESOME DETAILS SOME ARE JUST PLAIN EASY. FAR BETTER THAN PLAYING BRAIN DEAD GAMES ON YER PHONE.

I've built quite a few of these things, and it never gets old. The large amount of detail really makes it worth its price. It also has a very nice weight for something that only cost $19. Overall, great for experienced model builders, not so great for the inexperienced / beginners.

The detailing on this is so small that clipping the pieces from the sheet metal is near impossible. We haven’t finished it yet.

I have built about 25 of these models to date.... by far the most complex...but finished product is awesome.....it took me about a total of 18 hours....over a 2 week period....wish they would make more like this one

Just like its bigger brother, Piececool's Flak, this is sort of difficult. Lots of moments where you'll have to hold the gun upside down with lots of sensitive pieces. I've been waiting for this since it first showed up on Fascinations.com a few months ago. Worth the purchase and if you like this one and dont have the bigger version then you should get it. Objet quasiment impossible à monter. Pièces trop petites à découper, plier, assembler... J'ai été déçu. Mieux vaut acheter une maquette toute faite.

This was my first Metal Earth Model, and I think it is very pretty and detailed. It took me about 8-10 hours to create, and the end product stands up very well due to the 4 legs. The engravings make the product really beautiful and the metal barrel gives a lot of heft and weight to the model.You definitely need at least a pair of Plato Wire Cutters and a pair of tweezers to do this at all. Some of the pieces are just tiny, and it sucks bending the tabs with just your hands. Watch a couple youtube vids.

Es ist filigran, sehr. Unbedingt gleich das Werkzeug dazu bestellen.Hab angefangen und mal relativ schnell den Nerv verloren, da mal gleich ein Lascherl abgebrochen ist. Und dann die Runde Rolle, schritt 4.. Idee toll.. Umsetzung wie? Man verdrückt auch leider einiges. Ich baue es bestimmt fertig, da mir das Motiv sehr gefällt- an die Hersteller: wenn dies Model etwas größer wäre, wäre es tipptopp.. denn ich glaube, dass viele Leute mit dem verzagen. Danke
