Killing Me Softly

The first time I played this album was after its first release in 1973. The album was great then and it remains great. Roberta Flack's rendition of Suzanne paints a picture that remains etched in your mind. I actually googled the legend of Suzanne and that 40-year-old picture was correct. Ms. Flack changed one phrase in the song that it true to the person for which the poem was written.

I love, love this music. It's so soul stirring. The words, and her beautiful voice, flow inside to your inner self, like a beautiful gift each you hear it.

This album is perfect. The sound is phenomenal, mesmerizing. It arrived earlier than expected and was packaged wonderfully. Thank you.

When you're in a funk, don't fight it, play this album. Roberta is the most underrated pioneer of female soft rock!!! She is her music! When others stop signing and put down the microphone and walk away, they separate themselves but Roberta is Roberta Flack sings forever and there is NO separation. Songs like Suzzanne, that have been sung buy the greats including Judy Collins pales in comparison to Roberta's soulful rendition. She lives through her music and her music lives through her. I love Roberta Flack and, especially, the title song.

Why doesn't Roberta Flack get the same attention as so many other singers of the 1970s? Is it because she never wrote many of her songs? This is a lovely album from start to finish. The title track, for Don McLean (although not written by Flack) takes on a more powerful lustre in its proper context. 'Jesse' is tear-jerkingly glorious, and 'Suzanne' an unexpected treat.

Great album one small scratch

Promptly delivered. However the quality of the pressing is poor and the record was warped, the stylus continually jumps on the first groove. This was a 2nd replacement.Played on a new Rega Planar 3.

My favourite song ever now on a disc instead of theold record I could no longer play. Pleased to have it to play.
