I have methylation issues and am +/+ for PEMT rs7946. This is a loss of function mutation. Which means my body has trouble making phosphotidylcholine. With this supplement I get it directly. This helps me make acetylcholine for pain modulation, sphingomyelin for nerve healing, and gives me phospholipids for cellular integrity. I have made huge strides with my health by taking this supplement daily (in combination with with methylation support).Here are some tips on how to use it: The Optimal PC comes out easily the first time. If you choose to refrigerate it...it will have the consistency of cold honey. It will be very difficult to get out of the bottle. Do not use the flip top lid (with small hole). Screw off the entire top and turn the bottle upside down, while holding a tablespoon (or measuring spoon) underneath. Wait for 20-30 secs for gravity to bring it down. It takes a little patience, but it works and is a lot less messy. The directions on the bottle do not say refrigeration is necessary, so I am leaving it on the counter this month, so it will be easier to get out of the bottle Also, this stuff really sticks to spoons. I use a paper towel to wipe the gunk off my spoon before putting it in the dishwasher. Otherwise, it will crust up the spoon and you will have to re-wash it. I also take the Optimal PC With my folate support. Hope this info helps!!!

My healthcare practitioner recommended I take this because I have the PEMT SNP. I had no problem with the taste or texture but the side effects were horrible. Because I am sensitive, I started with a very tiny drop and over a two-week period, I slowly increased it to a slightly larger drop. I did not notice it at first but over the two week period I was getting more and more anxious, crying spells, feeling dark etc. I finally realized it was this product and again, these results stemmed from taking a very small dose. I am very disappointed that I cannot take it as due to my genetic profile I should benefit from it. If you try this product, start very small and be very aware of side effects that could creep up on you. It took me a while to figure out why I was feeling so horrible and I don’t want anyone else to suffer needlessly. Proceed with caution! This product is a precursor to neurotransmitters and can really mess things up.

Great product! Tried many different lipid products and this one is by far the most potent and is very high quality. Yes it's hard to get out of the bottle... get over it! Tip it upside down and let it come out. Both me and my wife have pemt so this product is great for us.

This causes major anxiety and brain fog. Too bad bc I know I have PEMT SNPs, I was hoping I could use this.

The product is thick like molasses and taste like a fat

This is good stuff. Soy-free and cheaper than some other soy-based products. Yes, it's difficult to get out of the bottle. Just store it upside down in the fridge and remove the cap when you're ready to dispense as another reviewer posted. The taste and stickiness leave something to be desired, but just mix it in a smoothie to make it more palatable. This is a great product; don't let anyone else convince you otherwise.

My internist recommended this product, so I'm sure it's effective, but I simply can't get the stuff down. It's incredibly viscose. So much so that I've never come upon any substance as thick as this. It's nearly tasteless, which is the only plus.
