Better than a 1975 Craftsman.
This uses saw blades more plentiful that older saws and saw blades are easier to change.

Good, Solid Saw, don’t go cheap!
After first buying a “no name” cheap brand on Amazon (first time use the piston literally fell out of the motor!!); I returned that cheap broken one and got this one; and it cut through a solid 3” thick OAK “cookie “ with ease.Just get this or better if you have “actual work” to do with your jigsaw, and be sure to get quality blades for whatever you use.

Very good saw.
Very much surprised at the quality and ease of use.I would like to see another handle on the front for using two hands. Cut very well. Would buy again if I need to.

Surprisingly good!
I've been a pro woodworker for 28 years and I've used a lot of Jigsaws. I prefer Bosch (The first company to produce them), However this year while visiting relatives on the other side of the country I needed a saw to do a project for them (Laying some floor in an entryway with lots of complicated cutouts around pipes and moldings and thresholds etc.) I looked on Amazon and found this. I haven't been too impressed with the direction Porter-Cable have gone in recent times but this tool has me reassessing that opinion. It's really good, especially for this price. Get some good blades and you should be well on your way. I can't speak for the longevity but it worked for me. I reluctantly left it behind on my return but will at least have a decent tool if I need it next time I visit.

The Porter Cable PCE 345 Jig saw super easy blade change.
I bought this to replace my DeWalt jig saw.Solely for the ease of changing blades.The blade change process of my DeWalt broke and seems to be convoluted as opposed the Porter Cables ease of quick blade change. Very nice jig saw.

I had a store name brand and it was crap! I used this Porter Cable Saw and felt like i went to tool heaven
