the product works great for indoor use, it attracts house flies and other flying insects, the only minor issue is the "zapper".this unit uses DC high voltage applied to the grid and this means you will hear a loud "snap", the larger the insect, the louder the "snap".at times, the "snap" loudness can be equivalent to a fire-cracker and if you arent used to this sound, you may be surprised.additionally, 99% of the insects "explode" as a result of touching the high voltage grid screen, so you may find pieces of insects scattered outside of the unit itself.the grid spacing is small thus increasing the chances of "zapping" smaller flying insects.though i do not recommend this, i removed both from and back protective safety grills to increase the chances of flying insects landing on the high voltage grid instead of the protective grill (which many were doing), my device is hanging from the ceiling in the kitchen about 6.5 feet above the floor which significantly decreases the chances of any human hands touching the electrified grid.other than this, i am very satisfied with the device.a note to those users complaining about streaming "waves" of light in their fluorescent tubes, this is completely normal and does not affect the operation and longevity of the florescent tubes, for some this may be a visual annoyance but thats all.a note - devices that utilize AC high voltage dont make a "snap" sound when an insect lands on it, they make a "sizzle" sound and its much quieter, so for those who would prefer not to hear loud "snaps", it may be better to obtain a device that utilizes AC high voltage instead of DC high voltage.five stars for this device because it is very effective, four stars for the noise level because the occasional "fire cracker" snaps could give me cardiac arrest LOL

ZAP ZAP I love this thing more than I will ever love my family/future children. I bought this because my apartment has a mosquito/moth/bug problem. I kept waking up with bug bites and was confused because I never saw bugs? So I bought this thing and while it is pretty loud, it is so satisfying to hear ZAP ZAP everytime those unholy bugs get captured and KILLED. I did not realized how many bugs were in there until I woke up the next morning and saw HUNDREDS of mosquitos in the cage! This thing truly saved my apartment and saved my BODY because I stopped waking up with bug bites!! I think I may have a serial killer complex now, because I enjoy watching the moths/mosquitos get caught and ZAPPED, but I owe it all to this incredible product. Would definitely not say it is safe around children but I don't care because the only children I have are the dead bugs in this cage. It is super bright blue so when you're sleeping it is definitely radiating some alien invasion-type colors. My housemates have commented on the glowing blue light coming from my room when they get up in the middle of the night to pee. But guess what? I don't care because the bugs are DEAD. Buy this only if you are ready to welcome your murderous side. It shows no sympathy for bugs and it is my best friend.

Every summer I have problems with flies in my house. I have tried various fly traps but they didn’t really work. I saw this at my sisters place and it was working so well for her so I decided to purchase.So I put this lamp on only at night when I am about to go to bed and when the lights are all off. It does make some zapping sound when a fly comes in contact with it and sometimes it zaps off their wings and leave them alive crawling around.It worked so well and gave me so much joy. I don’t have to be chasing flies around with fly swatters anymore.Now that the summer with its flies is going, I will store it up for the next summer.
