My son LOVED this
It's been a struggle trying to find something to interest our 8 year old in reading. After his teacher suggested we get him a graphic novel, I happened upon this and was excited to find him something Star Wars related (we eat, breathe and bleed Star Wars in this house). The day we got it he read the whole thing, and asked if there were any others like it. Needless to say, I was happy to hear this. We have since bought the second one (which he also finished in a day) and I have both the third and the interactive journal saved in my cart ready to purchase. The story line is engaging to his age range, and appropriate for his grade level of reading (he is going into third grade). There are a few things that I personally as his mama wish wasn't in there (ie someone calling someone stupid, a 'love' interest etc) but we are more conservative in those areas than most. I'm still happy with these in general though. I was NOT a fan of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, I didn't care for the main protagonist's attitude. These, I think, are far superior both visually and in content, and I would recommend them to a friend.

My 6 year old loves it, as do we
At our house we love all things Star Wars, and this book did not disappoint. My 6 year old loves reading it, or sitting with his Daddy to be read to. As a bonus he colors the comics lol. As adults we really enjoy the humurous referenced to the saga. Cute story, I like how they show the main character deal with bullying in a healthy way and brush it off (even Yoda gives words of wisdom about bullies). Also shows him dealing with disappointments in life (suprise kids, they happen!) and as a result how he tries something new and actually enjoys it. Looking forward to buying book 2!

A good book to explore for a boy about the age of 8 or 9.
I bought this book for my 8 year old grandson. He had discovered Jeffrey Brown from another one of his books and asked if we could find another. It is situational for a boy named Roan, who has just finished elementary school and is going on to middle school. As we read the book together, my grandson laughed out loud at some of the events, and was sympathetic in others. We are now reading Book 3 of the 4 book series.....so that should give you an idea as to whether or not to explore it. My little guy is a good reader...... reading about 3rd grade level....in second grade and could easily manage the book.

Unique take on Star Wars
This comic/book is quite unique take on the Star Wars universe and how Jedi’s are trained. Roan our hero in this book is quite a lot like Luke in that he lives on Tattooine and dreams of being a star fighter pilot. Unfortunately he is declined for Pilot school and is instead accepted into the Jedi Academy. Roan is confused by this because he doesn’t believe he has the force. But he goes to Coruscant anyway and slowly finds out that he fits in better than he thinks. This comic is basically his entire first year of school. I thought it was uniquely written and drawn. It kept me entertained even though the story line was kinda dull since it only deals with his daily grind of classes and school events. I wouldn’t mind to continue reading about his getting through Jedi Academy school.Overall if you’re a Star Wars fan this is a fun and unique take on it and I think most would enjoy it. Middle schoolers may enjoy it as well, although they may not care for the story. My overall score would have been 4/5 but with DRM it drops it down to a 3/5.

He's very smart (reading at a level 2 grades above) but I ...
My 7 year old nephew is a huge Star Wars fanatic. I got him this book for a back to school gift. He was excited, but kind of confused. He's very smart (reading at a level 2 grades above) but I don't think he understand the concept of this book. I think he prefers more of the commercial Star Wars stuff. I read most of it before I gave it to him and I loved it, so maybe it's better for an older audience.

Back to school again
If you are a Star Wars fan or ever gone to school, Star Wars: Jedi Academy is the sort of book that would surely put a smile on your face. In Star Wars: Jedi Academy, Brown departs from his previous installments to tells us the story of a boy called Roan as he enters middle school in the fictional universe of Star Wars. The book is written in the fashion of a comic book. If you look at the cartoon on the cover of the book, you know what to expect. Sans colors since the cartoons are black and white. However, Brown masterfully interlaces pages from Roan's personal diary to give us an insight to Roan's mind and other notes such as letters and pages from the Padawan Observer to flesh out the Roan's world. This style of story telling quickly grew on me. By page 15 I was already feeling Roan's disillusion, but by page 17 I was super elated when Roan received his acceptance letter to the Jedi Academy, even as I knew it was going to happen since it's the tittle of the book after all.Overall, the story works because one could easily relate to Roan's troubles regardless of the universe they happen. That they happen in the Star Wars' Universe, its just a plus for us, Star Wars fans.I could easily recommend this book for Star Wars fans and, frankly, for anyone who wants a light heart chuckle. On top of that, this is a book that you could easily pass to your little ones as they start to read. A great introduction to comic books and Star Wars, with a great morale too.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid meets star wars
My seven (7) year old loved this so much, he refused to go to bed and read the entire book in one night. It took a while to get him interested in it because it doesn't read like a normal book. It's basically diary of a wimpy kid in the star wars universe. After getting him past the first few pages, he was off to the races and read through the entire thing. He asked me about a few of the words, but only those that were names of places or people since they are all made up from Star Wars.Definitely recommend, just be prepared to get the next couple books right away.

Engaging read for kids
Excellent series. I have seen my 9yo son walk-reading, eat-reading, reading in car, reading instead of tv, reading in bed, in chair, to his sister, by himself, and with major enthusiasm for next book to follow. Fun books, he likes the analogies with his regular, non-StarWars school and general kid world, and likes the characters and their storylines. He recommends these books to his friends all the time.

Trying his hardest to get expelled from homeschool so he can go to Jedi Academy.
Bought for my 8 year because he loves graphic novels. These are just perfect for him. They are a mixture of comic, story, diary, drawing, doodles. Kept his attention during lockdown. He was happy to read at various times in day and before bed, which is lovely to see. Thumbs up, we’ll buy more.

I can only comment on service and quality of product.
I am a Star Wars fan but not interested in the book to be honest. It's aimed at children that show an interest in comics. The pictures are black and grey. It's printed on paper that has a recycled feel to it but that's not a bad thing. It doesn't feel cheap. The product was in perfect condition when it arrived. Not sure who the supplier is but it arrived in good time and adequate packaging. It is a present for my partner's Auntie who loves these books but I think it's mainly aimed at children.

Excellent commuter reading.
I love these!! They're just brilliant... even if you're only remotely into Star Wars. I have a number of Jeffrey Brown books... all well told, well illustrated... all fantastic for that commuter train Kindle read. Highly recommended.
