Product Description Rosso d'Asti: A large red pepper from Asti, not so far from Carmagnola, and again a superb fourlobed variety for the greenhouse. A very good variety for using with the dish Bagna Cauda. Always start peppers off between February and May, protected (on a windowsill, in a heated greenhouse, conservatory etc.), sowing them 1 cm deep in pots or yogurt tubs. They must have full light and heat at this point. When there is no more risk of frosts, you can plant them out into the greenhouse. Some peppers can be grown outside - in a hot summer, all peppers will be OK outside (that's gardening for you, no constants). In the UK, bell peppers usually need a greenhouse: big peppers, big energy, big sun, big food, big water - these are hungry beasts. All peppers start off green. Some stay green, but most will mature to either red or yellow and some novelty varieties range from purple and bright orange to cream. Gastronomically, I'm always wary of these gimmicky types, unless they are heirloom or traditional varieties - it's the purist in me, I guess, and looks and flavour don't always go together. Box Contains 1 x Approx 300 seeds
