ObozMen's Sawtooth II Low Hiking Shoe

Comfortable right out of the box
Had never heard of Oboz before reading about them in an article evaluating men's hiking shoes. I had hiked in some of the more common brands, but generally reverted to wearing my running shoes in most situations because hiking shoes just seemed too bulky and with little or no cushion. These Oboz were a really pleasant surprise when I tried them on. Great arch support and just enough cushioning to feel good but not "squishy."Tried them on a 4-mile hike with some steep hills and slippery rocks. No problem. Felt so much more stable than my running shoes, and so much more comfortable than any of the hiking shoes I had worn before. No hints of blisters after my initial hike. No discomfort anywhere.A bonus with these shoes is the Oboz insole that comes standard. It's a lot like the ones I've bought for my running shoes that cost from $25 to $40. I was surprised to see such a good insole in moderately priced hiking shoes. And of course, if you prefer a different insole or custom orthotic, you can just pop it out and use your own.UPDATE: Did a 5-mile hike through hilly, rugged terrain in the Daniel Boone National Forest earlier this week. Mud. Slick rocks. Steep inclines. Everything. I never slipped or felt unstable...These Oboz are definitely the BEST HIKING SHOES I'VE EVER OWNED.

Very durable shoes
These Oboz shoes are my favorite daily use shoes. They are very tough and can handle the worst kind of abuse.First, these shoes are comfortable, and offer a lot of support. The soles are fairly stiff, and have plenty of traction too. They are excellent shoes for hiking and wearing daily, but not good for trail running.I am very hard on shoes, and these Oboz lasted me a whole year. I completely wore the soles out, and the shoes did not break. That's a win in my book. Some of the horrible things I did to my shoes:Wore them every single day to workWore them while gardening and mowing the lawnWore them while mountain bikingWore them while hikingWore them tubing down a riverWore them while welding and cutting metal (sparks everywhere)Wore them riding a scooterRan them through the washer several times (not the dryer - don't do that!)Anyway, these shoes are an excellent choice if you want a durable shoe for daily use and hiking. The seller was fast too. I got them in 2 days.

I needed comfortable shoes
Brick and Mortar wants to know why e-commerce is having them for lunch? I went to REI to look for hiking shoes. Tried on a few pair and even got my feet sized. The girl waiting on me brought out several options, including this one to try. Then said "Well, I have to go on my break. I'll get someone else to come help you." REALLY??? She disappeared, and no one came to assist (mind you they are not commission). I wanted to try on some others but I'm like, whatever. I guess they don't want my business. Came home and promptly ordered on Amazon for the same price. These shoes felt like a hug on my foot. I can't begin to say how comfortable they are except that I better subscribe to them so I get regular shipments before they stop making them. Sure, they are not the prettiest, but they do what they are intended to do. LOVE THEM.

I’m not exaggerating, these shoes cured my planter fasciitis!
I absolutely love these shoes. Bought them and wear them around the house for a couple of days and then went on a 10 mile hike into the Cascades. My feet felt great.I’m not exaggerating, these shoes cured my planter fasciitis! If you have plantar fasciitis, I highly recommend these shoes and get a size 1/2 a size larger than what you normally wear.

incredibly comfortable shoe, but sole will wear
I am now on my 5th, yes 5th! pair of oboz sawtooth. I need a stiff midsole and ability to put an orthotic insert into my shoe. Combine that with a narrower foot and I have had issues finding shoes that truly fit. Well, these do. The shoe is well built and very comfortable. I use them for everyday use and moderate hiking (moderate climbs, and up to about 10 miles per day). They are one of the best shoes I have every bought... why only the 4 stars? Well as I said I am on #5 now and its all because the tread under the heal wears... so, while the rest of the shoe is still in great shape, I have to replace once the heel wears too much. And when it wears down, you go into a softer backing that just tears out. So, I average maybe a year for the shoe.. But, the fit is so good and the shoe so comfortable, that it is worth it to me... I have only bought the standard, not waterproof sawtooth up till now. I just ordered another pair with the b-dry for my occasional very wet outings. I'll update this review as needed for the b-dry. While I dealt most of the space on the wear out, I have to emphasize that this is a really good hiking/walking shoe.

Great Shoes! Great Value. They're Impossible to Kill.
I've got five pairs of outdoor shoes, and four of them are Oboz. I'm kind of a giant and need extra long, extra-wide shoes, which usually limits my selection, but Oboz offers multiple choices. I've got these in both the waterproof and standard variations, and both are supremely comfortable and well-crafted. My oldest pair still see daily use--from the 2-3 miles of dog-walking I put in every day to mowing the lawn to grocery chopping--and occasionally going out into the woods, where they're submitted to rocks, mud, tree roots, and all sorts of indignities. I keep another pair relatively nice, but they'll eventually be demoted to replace the mudders. Finally, I have this pair for dry weather hikes--they've keep my feet happy in Badlands Park, Utah, Colorado, and places in between, and I have a pair of ankle-high boots for longer hikes and tougher terrain. All of them fit like a glove right out of the box, required very little breaking in, and show little wear despite abuse. No loose threads, no broken down heel pads. They're truly marvellous--but I have an agenda in my glowing review: I've never had better shoes, and I want to keep Oboz in business so I can keep buying them!

..
Sadly had to return, due to injury need a wide fit for right foot.Unfortunate as they seem a well made and comfortable shoe for my left foot anyway.

Toe box was smaller than expected.
Bought size 11 and though they may fit the same as the Cirque model but found the toe box was tighter than expected.Toe box is critical in the comfort of any footwear.I have been pushing a tennis ball into the hiker hoping to expand it a bit.

Just what I Expected
When I ordered them the colour wasn't my first choice but when I got them I loved the version of grey and will buy again!
