Real Germanium Diodes
I only tested one, but that one had a 0.3V forward voltage drop, exactly as expected for a germanium diode.

Works in my Crystal Radio
Some people believe that many of the diodes sold as Germanium are actually Schottky diodes. I don't know how to tell the difference (the voltage drop is about the same for each). They work in my Crystal Radio, that is what is important to me.

Building a Crystal Radio
This is exactly the diode you need. Works great!!

They are very nice and they work well.
Used them on an Antenna tuner and they were just what was needed.

Lower Vf than germanium, but higher capacitance than germanium
These diodes will have a greater performance than germanium diodes in crystal radio sets. They also have a four times greater capacitance, though, and that could be a problem in some other specialized applications. I took off only one star because these are Schottky type, silicon, diodes -- not germanium diodes and I don't like misleading product descriptions. Should have said 1N34 equivalent, Schottky diodes, or similar, and not mentioned germanium. I measured 0.20 volts forward voltage at 1mA on the one I did measure and 6pf of capacitance. Very good.

Available here!
I was soldering 3 diodes of this type on a circuit board and lost one. God knows where, these are pretty tiny things. I was thinking, great! Now where was I gonna find these diodes and thought why not try Amazon. They have everything else. Lo & behold, there they are and in the same exact form as the one I lost. I’ve got to tell the world, TRY AMAZON FIRST!! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried everyone else in the world before Amazon and have been shocked to see they carried whatever it is I needed. These came packaged safely and beautifully.

NOT a germanium 1N34A!
As a few others have stated, these are NOT 1N34A germanium diodes as the description claims, these are schottky diodes. To be fair, they will work in your crystal radio if you have powerful am stations near you. But if you are hunting weaker stations not in your own city then you will be disappointed as these are not anywhere near as sensitive as a real germanium diode.

Seems like these are obsolete. Getting harder to source.
For use in guitar pedal builds these have been a staple for clipping diodes. They are getting hard to find so also getting expensive. Glad to have a source.
