First, let’s set expectations: no rehydrated food is going to retain the exact same flavor and texture it had prior to being freeze dried or dehydrated. This stuff is pretty great considering those limitations.Here’s how I’m using these for backpacking.Breakfast BurritosAt home, store in a ziplock bag:1/3 cp powdered eggs (same brand)1/4 cp dried sausage crumbles1 tsp powdered butter1 tbsp dried green bell peppers(Separate bag):Kraft single (I like white American)2 flour tortillasSalsa packet or two (McDonalds, or similar)Olive oil packet (about a tbsp)At camp:1. Pull out your bag of dehydrated goodies.Add 1/2cp of water and cold soak for 30min (or more, of you have time).2. After soaking, throw into your camp cooker and heat over medium-high heat. Stir in olive oil and cook.3. Tear a slice of Kraft single into strips and layer into the center of each flour tortilla.4. After the eggs cook, spoon mixture into the center of your burritos, on top of the cheese.5. Top with salsa pack, roll and eat.Taste notes: pretty decent! The sausage crumbles are a bit harder than fresh, but taste like sausage. The texture is similar as well, just a bit firmer. In a burrito, this meal feels like a breakfast luxury. Powdered egg, cooked with other things, is fairly indistinguishable from fresh eggs. The salsa helps to bury the flavor differences. The olive oil adds a bit of fat to improve texture, taste, and boost calories.Other notes:Adjust water for altitude.Kraft singles aren’t real food, so they keep just fine on the trail without refrigeration.Olive oil packets are a huge help with basically anything you cook trailside.

I purchase this product on July 10th, 2019 for $33.79 from this supplier. The $119.99 is for a 4 pack of # 10 cans. I ordered this 4 pack on August 11th, 2019 saving $15.17. These sausage crumbles taste really good, just like fresh sausage from your grocers. It does take some time to re-hydrate but well worth it to have sausage on hand and ready to use. I use this product for daily use and for long term storage. These crumbles taste good right out of the can as a meaty snack. I would recommend these freeze dried crumble to any one. And will order again when needed.

Used this for two meals on a recent canoe trek and found it to be pretty good. In one case we soaked for 10ish minutes, the other case we let it soak for most of an hour. In both cases the nuggets remained a little bit al-dente. The sausage flavor is very mild - eating it plain you can tell it is breakfast sausage but in the mac-and-cheese the flavor was completely masked. Despite the shortcomings, it is still a very good option when light weight and/or long shelf life are needed.

I purchased these sausage crumbles on November 7th, 2021 and have prepared them twice. The first time I just followed the directions and they were totally bland and without any flavor. Thankfully our dog will eat anything so they didn’t go to waste.(BTW ... somebody needs to correct their product description because they are NOT CRUMBLES! They look like dog or cat kibble ... totally uniform in size. Please see my photo.) Today I prepared them again, but added butter, chopped onion, and ground sage (a key seasoning ingredient in breakfast sausage). Sadly it was still bland and without flavor. I honestly don’t understand the rave reviews here. I don’t think these people have ever tasted good sausage gravy so they have nothing to compare this too. Unfortunately I can not pass this last batch on to my dog because of the onions I added to it ... since onions are not good for dogs. I am seriously thinking the rest of the unprepared freeze dried “crumbles” will be used as dog treats. 😩

we have a crowd of men that come to have coffee on the weekend so I make homemade biscuits,fri up some sausage patties I use the grease from the patties rehidrat the sausage crumbles as directed and make them sausage gravy,They love it

No taste terrible texture. Although this product it arrived on time and it is sausage I just didn't like the taste the texture or the size. They were like mini teeny meatballs the size of a water droplet they were all about the same size. It did not feel or taste like sausage when you chewed it it was just the same as eating the protein vegetarian products. For me this was not a winner
