Safe, Adjustable, and Chick-Approved: The Perfect Brooder Plate!
The K&H Pet Products Thermo Chicken Brooder is an excellent choice for safely and effectively keeping chicks warm. I’ve been really impressed with how well it works and how thoughtfully designed it is. One of the standout features of this brooder plate is its safety. It provides consistent warmth without overheating, giving me peace of mind knowing that my chicks are cozy and safe. Unlike some other brooder plates I’ve tried, this one doesn’t get excessively hot, making it perfect even for the youngest and most delicate chicks. Another big plus is how easy it is to adjust. Whether I’m accommodating chicks of different sizes or tweaking the height as they grow, the process is super simple and hassle-free. This level of convenience makes a big difference during those busy brooder days! Handling and cleaning are also effortless. The design is user-friendly, making setup and adjustments quick and frustration-free. Cleaning is equally straightforward—the materials are easy to wipe down, which is so important when dealing with messy little chicks! Best of all, my chicks are very happy under this brooder plate. It’s clear they feel comfortable and secure, which makes this product an even better investment. Overall, this brooder plate strikes a great balance between functionality, safety, and ease of use. It’s durable, reliable, and perfect for any brooder setup. I highly recommend it to anyone raising chicks!

Works great and no fire hazard!
After seeing reviews that this product wouldn't be hot enough, I was initially a little wary. Then I received the heater. It's extremely easy to set up and once it's heated up after plugged in, the bottom of the plate feels slightly warm, but definitely hot enough to burn anything, which is fantastic! The point of heat sources like this is to simulate the warmth given by brooding hens, so it makes sense for the heat to be about body temperature. In addition to being slightly more natural than a traditional heat lamp, the chicks have a good way to get out of the bright LED light I have over their brooder and have a dark place to easily take a nap in. PROS: - Less of a fire hazard than heat lamps - Uses less electricity than most heat lamps - Not too hot to touch and handle - Simulates the natural warmth given by a brooding hen - Easily adjustable as the chicks grow CONS: - You may need to teach newly hatched chicks to go under the warmer at first. - Probably best used indoors with the air at least at room temperature. - It does need to be cleaned after awhile, but a simple wipe down with a damp rag works. Basically this product is great if you set up your chicks in a relatively warm environment (at least 70°F) since it's warm enough for the chicks to freely walk around and then return under the heater for a comfortable nap.

This has worked perfectly for my baby quail chicks!
This is my first time hatching any kind of eggs, so I've had to rely on a lot of research and searching online to know what I'm doing. I'm so glad I found a video recommending this specific brooder plate! Staying warm means life or death for baby chicks when you first bring them out of the incubator and into the brooder, so it's so important to have something that works well for them. This brooder plate has been just what my adorable baby quail chicks need! They just love snuggling under it, and the lowest level is just perfect for them when they are this tiny. These pictures are from the first day using it, and you can see how quickly they caught on. It has been so much less stressful than using a heat lamp and trying to adjust temperatures and fool with thermometers, etc. With this heat plate, they decide if they need to be warmer or cooler and move to the area under the plate that feels best to them. They also feel safe and protected being under it more like they would feel cuddling under a mother hen to stay warm. I highly recommend for anyone hatching eggs! Your babies will love it.

Kept them warm!
Easy to assemble! It was easy to clean, still works after 8 months. Durability for my 3 chickens it held up well. Heat level, I had a thermometer under it to help make sure they were staying at a comfortable temperature. When it got too hot or they got bigger it was easy to adjust. No noise, quite. The chickens seemed comfortable with it and like it. They are now all adults, and doing well!

Good enough for me, but definitely can't be used for new chicks
This heater won't get warm enough for new chicks (2 weeks or younger). You'll need to supplement with more heat. I used a warming/heating pad underneath it which then works great. Overall, its good for older chicks. Currently it averages around 80 degrees F. for warmth, where hatchlings need over 90 degrees.

Didn’t last long
It works nicely as long as it works. I bought this in March of 2024 and discovered with last spring’s hatch (2025) that it had completely stopped working. I read the owner’s “manual” hoping to find troubleshooting instructions but there were none. $50 wasted.

High Quality Brooder Plate
I have had one of these for over two years, and just bought another. These brooder plates are much safer than a traditional heat lamp, and use much less electricity while allowing the chicks to get as much heat as they want without making them too hot. They are adjustable, so I have one set up higher for the older chicks and one lower for the new ones. They seem to be durable and waterproof for cleaning the tops, and are incredibly easy to use. Just plug it in and forget it. Get a good quality brooder such as this one and you will have no problems. We have raised dozens of chicks and have already started raising more this year with zero issues!

Have used now for two groups of quail chicks and it works well. I got the bigger sized one and it’s quite large. I used it for my first group of quail chicks until they were about 3 weeks old and they didn’t need it anymore **they are inside and in our main living area so it’s warm and quail feather out quicker than chickens so don’t take that timeline as your own, watch them and take cues for if they are too hot or not**. The smaller size would have been fine for the smaller scale hobby farm I have. We had 12 quail under it and it was honestly too big (better than too small)! I currently have 17 chicken chicks and it would work perfect for them as well but I have more quail again so using it for them instead because quail love to fly around and jump which makes the heat lamps more dangerous for them. Quick Points: - It’s not too hot, the temperature is basically perfect! - The legs work well but you can only have it slanted (so lower on the back end and higher on the front) on the highest level so for the smaller chicks like quail it was a little disappointing at the very beginning but it was still fine. - The cord is strong and thick, so good and durable. - It is SO easy to clean! Just wipe it down and done! Nothing sticks to it.

I bought this heater for two ducklings and it works amazing. It is so easy to clean and adjust the height. This was my first time ever having day old ducklings and was very nervous about having the heater inside my home. The heater is very safe - gets warm but not hot and the ducklings have loved it and are very cozy and happy under it.

This was the best thing for my baby chickens. Once they got a little bigger they liked to perch on it and poo all over it. It becomes very difficult to keep up with daily cleaning. So I highly recommend covering the top of this with press 'n seal making it an easy daily task to peel off and replace. The chickens basically told me when they didn't need it anymore because they eventually stopped sleeping under it by around 4-5 weeks old. I would choose this brooder heater over a heat lamp for safety. This will never make the chicks too hot and it will not be a fire hazard. You adjust the height as the chickens get taller.

My Wife and I are new to this incubation stuff, and we're using a headlamp for our four new hatchlings. Since we had it set up in the bedroom, waking up in the middle of the night, the light was distracting. My wife suggested one of these, so I ordered one. Although shipping was fast, the chicks' growth rate was faster. Super easy to set up, but the chick's had outgrown the sloped setting. I sized up the tallest chick and adjusted the height. It was perfect. The chick's love it, and as they grow, we can adjust the height accordingly. Money well spent. Not overly hot, so there is little chance of any fire. As for durability, time will tell. Not sure how many chick's this will satisfy, UT we have four and they have plenty of room.
