Don't waste your money on cheaper, inferior products.
Let's get one thing right before I start this review. I hate bugs... I hate files and I really hate moths... so when they're in my house I hate it.This thing does not electrocute flies and moths.... it blows them up. Okay so technically yes, it electrocutes them... However a lot of flies etc by the end will be missing wings and legs... I actually feel sorry for anything that gets into this thing and doesn't instantly die.The only negative is the awful stench when a moth is in the process of being cremated / set on fire. But you have 2 choices the way I see it... get a unit that doesn't work and have less smell, or have something that'll actually kill pests but smell for a few seconds afterwards! On a serious note, I cannot recommend this product more - the 30W version is definitely worth it over the 15W version. Have a play with putting it in different places if it's not doing the job very well. I put mine on top of a shelf near the ceiling and my room is pretty much always pest free now, even with my window wide open.

Noisey and Useless
I bought this to replace a £10 Aldi fly zapper, which had finally stopped working after three years of constant use. I bought this Vermatik on the strength of other reviews. I wish I hadn't.This Vermatik unit has a very loud and constant buzz. It's not level on the bottom, so it sits precariously on the flattest surface. It didn't catch any flies. Not the big ones, not the small ones. Nothing. Whereas the Aldi was always covered in the debris of small biting things and the occasional bluebottle type, this Vermatik has caught nothing. And it buzzes louder than the flies themselves. The unit was too costly to return, so it's been binned. Fortunately Aldi had their version back in stock this week.

Missing parts?
Seems to work ok. Better hung away from the wall, which is handy as the description and booklet inside the box both said 'including fixings for wall mount and cleaning brush' neither of which could be found in the box? A little overkill for our kitchen size, but I didn't want to under estimate.

A top notch insect remover
We have cats, quite a few in fact. They all love meat as do most flying bugs known to mankind. Also with the warm weather we have had, the bugs have become an issue. This unit is not used during the day as the windows and doors are open and if they had any sence, the bugs would vacate the house. However, at night, we close doors, windows etc and turn the unit on. Nothing escapes it. Overnight it will easily clear anyrhing that has strayed into the house. It has 30 watt UV tubes and is safe and cheap to run. It does rather sound like a deranged person armed with a Tazer, but does the trick every night! It is quite a large unit. Do not confuse this with the little semi portable mains / battery versions. This is mains only, is wall mountable as well as able to be suspended by the enclosed chain and is powerful. It has solved the bug problem for us overnight. Easy to clean as well. This would by the perfect choice for kitchens, commercial or private, or in our case, where animals are regularly taken in. A superb machine but will not zapp butterflies or larger moths.

Loud, ain't it!
I've had this running for a couple of days. During daylight hours, even when it's cloudy and dull, nothing really happens. But at night, it's a very different story. It sounds very loud when something flies into it!This is much better than using horrible sprays. Cleaning is simple. Slide the tray out towards you from underneath the unit and empty the contents. Strange how nothing about that is mentioned in the manual, but it is a very simple operation.Top marks for efficiency. I shall be extremely pleased if I can get replacement bulbs here.UPDATE:Due to where I have to place this machine at present, I was able to accidentally knock the thing onto it's side. And all went dark."SHEESH! That's THAT done for, " I sorrowed. But flicked the switch and it still works. So it's not only a good zapper, it's reasonably robust as well, hahaha! Oh, I'm so grateful as a wasp got in today. It ain't here no more :) Oh yeah, and there are replacement bulbs you can get for it as well. They call 'em "30 watt Fly Zapper Fly killer UVA Tube Pack of 2 Bulbs", so just copy/paste that into the usual search bar here, and they'll pop up on your screen. Those are the bulbs you want for this particular machine. I haven't yet come across any others.

does what it says on the box - exterminates flying pests - excellent in my rural environment - but when it zaps unexpectedly - Jesus it makes you jump :):):)
