International Code of Signals: For Visual, Sound, and Radio Communication

Signal Code Book Misery
I was hoping for a high-quality marine communication source book, but this IS NOT IT! The book is horribly presented, with only page after page of boring, small print. No diagrams, no pictures, no color... reminds me of a calculus textbook. For the money paid, I really expected something "boater-friendly". So, unless you're a commercial barge captain, this book is definitely not enjoyable (nor even interesting) reading! I'll file it under minimally-useful boat information.

Reference Book NOT a Novel
I spent about a half hour looking through this. I intend to keep it on the sailboat at all times but I don't have the money to invest in the necessary flags to hoist on the yard arm or back-stay. I'll have to invest in the basic flags like the "Q" quarantine flag and some country flags if I visit another country. Right now Canada and Mexico will do. Even if I can use flag signals I'm not certain anybody else would understand them. Now however if I see flags hoisted I can at least understand the message.

Know the code.
This is great to have on board any vessel. It's fun, and informative. Live the history of the sea and be a tarry sailor and salty seaman !
