Secure your stuff with
If you think a lock can’t be cut then don’t bother buying one because you’ll be disappointed. But if you want a lock that is hard to cut and difficult to pick then this is your choice. You can feel a serious difference in weight and materials between this and the previous discus lock from the prior brand name that was cut off my storage locker. This is super high quality and built tough. Will fit anywhere the competitors will. The keys are different than anything else you’ve experienced. I bought two locks, one key worked easily right out of the box and the other felt gritty and wouldn’t unlock. So I put a little fine oil in both and after a few twists back and forth they both work like clocks. I will admit the site is confusing. Whether you order keyed the same or keyed differently you seem to get two locks that the keys are not interchangeable between the locks as you might’ve wished-although if you pay nearly twice as much per lock you may be able to order directly and actually get the locks which open with the same key-but not here. There may be a key service to order keys that open both after the fact but Unfortunately the site is in German and very hard to make heads or tails of. So expect to have a separate key for each one and keep track of which is which because there is no outward sign or number to distinguish one from the next. I solved this with a piece of colored electrical tape both on the key and lock to differentiate. I don’t expect anyone short of a grinder to cut through these and don’t believe the average thief can pick them. When you absolutely need security these are as good as you can get. Ain’t cheap but neither is everything inside your trying to keep safe. Buy a little quality oil, take your time opening them out of the box and don’t worry about the negative reviews. However, don’t expect any help from abus.com/yourplus (no English version) unless you speak/read fluent German so support is a bit limited

Looks strong and well made.
This is a great lock. I bought it 4 years ago and have used it a few times during my relocations.

Solid lock worth the price!
It feels solid and safe, and while no lock is 100% secure, this one must come pretty close. I think it's a 7 or 8 in Abus' own safety rating scale. I lubricated it out of the box and didn't have any trouble opening and closing it like a few reviews have mentioned. I think the mechanism benefits from a little breaking in. The shackle closes with a pleasant and reassuring sound, like an old Cadillac door. I hope one day we'll again manufacture things like this here in the U.S.!

Kept my PODS secure
A bit pricey.m but worth it if it deters prospective thieves from lifting my stuff. I installed it on a POD that was used to move by belongings across half the country. I did the job. It’s really heavy and well made. But, the key mechanism was a bit difficult and gritty feeling when first out of the box. This was also noted by some other reviews. Since I didn’t want to break off the key in the lock, I was gentle at first and exercised the lock for a few minutes before installing it. That seemed to loosen up the mechanism well enough to not stick.

If you want a high security lock to protect your valuables, this one will do the job
This lock is made of very heavy steel and has unique keys. I had issues with the first lock I received, which was very stiff to open and got badly stuck in the locked position a few times. Amazon sent me an exchange and the new one works pretty well. I trust this lock for use in a storage facility, which says a lot. Based on how it looks compared to similar locks, this one is built sturdily with a small hasp... It would be very hard to get a bolt cutter on it once it is in the locked position on a locker/gate/storage unit. My guess is a thief is likely to bypass this one as it seems like too much trouble to attempt to pick or cut off. My advise is twofold for those who buy this lock: 1) Oil it with a good lubricant like silicone by fully inserting the oiled key and gently fully open/close it multiple times until it operates as smooth as you can get it to and 2) if the key gets stuck in a locked position, GENTLY attempt to turn the fully inserted key in counterclockwise/clockwise movements until you get the lock to engage - whatever you do, do NOT try to force the lock mechanism to move using the key. If the key is binding up, just reverse the movement and go back and forth until the lock mechanism engages fully. The key is not made of strong metal and could be broken off in the lock if forced. The relative stiffness of the lock mechanism is why I rated this product four stars instead of five. Other than the above treatment, I think this lock is maintenance free and a great tool to safeguard your property. There are bigger locks out there but this one seems to have all the characteristics to make it a pain for a thief to attempt to compromise.... also, as other reviewers have mentioned, the Youtuber "Lock Picking Lawyer" (LPL, who picks locks of all types very quickly for his videos) had challenges picking this one and was impressed by this lock. That's good enough for me!

Works fine with Uhaul 15 ft truck
The people who claim it doesn't fit the uhaul trucks are probably trying to loop it through all 3 holes on the truck. There's 1 on the door latch, 1 on the door, and 1 on the knob (on the door) that releases the latch. You don't need to latch all 3. Latching the first 2 is just fine. Also, the ABUS core means this lock can't be picked unless you are literally a professional with a special tool that isn't easy to come by at all. Good product, very sturdy

Difficult to Open With the Key
I use one of these along with the matching Abus 140/120 C stainless steel hasp to secure an external garage / workshop building behind my house. I've owned it a little less than a year, and I open it several times a week. I think it would be more convenient to weld my doors closed and cut them open every time I needed to lock or unlock the shop (and it would be more pick resistant, for that matter). It's going to be cathartic to throw this thing in the garbage. The key doesn't slide in smoothly, and so it's not easy to tell when it's all the way in. If you turn it when it's not all the way in, you'll misalign the discs, which do not realign themselves when you remove the key. You have to do it. Sometimes that takes five seconds, and sometimes it takes 90. If there's any pressure on the shackle when you try to turn the key, it won't open. Abus' own matching hasp puts enough pressure on the shackle to bind it up a lot of the time, resulting in the need to hold it just right while opening it. A lot of the time, it just doesn't operate and it's not clear why. Earlier today I was locking up the shop in the rain. I opened it and closed it to make sure that it was going to work before stepping out into the rain. I left the key in it, stepped outside, closed the door, tried to open the lock again, and it wouldn't open. I had to stand there and screw with they key for about ten seconds. Typical. I've waited this long to replace it because it basically does its job, even if it is often very annoying, but it shouldn't be hard to find a heavy duty, secure lock that works every time you try to use it. Spend more money if you have to. I wouldn't recommend this lock to anyone.
