GaggiaPerfect Cream with G Logo Filter Holder, Steel

I damaged the original portafilter that came with my Gran Gaggia Style machine by using the wrong cleaning product and stripped the chrome plating from the aluminium filter holder.I was concerned that the images of this item did not match the description but took a chance due to the price.The item I received is exactly the same in look and build quality as my original portafilter, with 'G' logo on the handle. The back of the box actually shows both options, chrome end cap or Gaggia G end cap.Some other reviews claim that the item they received is of inferior build quality, compared to their original portafilter. In my case, I received an identicle portafilter to the original that came with my machine, see photos, the new item is on left of each photo.Very happy with my purchase but it shouldn't have been necessary if I hadn't damaged the original by using the wrong cleaning product.

The fixing lug broke off of my last filter holder in use, with quite a bang! Bought this replacement, but had to go for 2 whole days without real coffee :( The new one arrived and was making coffee within 5 minutes - happy days :)The new one was much cleaner than my broken one and this may be why the old one broke. My top tip is to wipe the filter out after every use with wet kitchen roll. And take it out once a week(ish) and do the the same to the outside of the filter. This keeps the filter holes open and reduces the overall pressure on the filter holder. Time will tell if this really does stop this happening again, but in the meantime it's looking new and shiny after 3 months!

I received the handle with the G logo on it. The machine now works as it was new, or almost new (my machine is a 10 years old gran gaggia style).Honestly, I would have expected to receive the 1person filter as well (the one with the rubber gasket), but it wasn't in there. Not a problem, as I still have mine and still works correctly.In general, clean the filters every time they get dirty, either with a toothbrush or on the open flame, which burns away any dirt/particles clogging the filter.Well, my machine now works as new, with just a new filter holder and a descaler.P.S.: I strongly don't recommend dismounting the handle, as there is no way in my knowledge to actually assemble it back correctly: there are two springs that keep the whole thing in place, of which one is very strong. To clean the inside, run hot water in it, or leave it soaking in some soap for a while.

I bought this to replace a Saeco pressurised portafilter that is the exact same thing. Except that this one is extremely light, the plastic feels cheap, the body is aluminium and thin. It does the job but it doesn't feel right.The original one was a robust, heavy bronze alloy thing that I kept refurbishing with repair kits.I chose this because it's the whole thing for the price of the repair kits.
