Kindle version with references, footnotes and easy navigation. Wow!
Originally, I was just trying to figure out what happened to my 1977 NASB that I have had on Kindle for several years. Then my ESV Bible which I have had on Kindle for several years was also gone from my phone after an update to Android. Apparently those two do not work on my phone's Kindle reader anymore. So I searched for another version that I really like, and found this CSB. (The CSB Study Bible is excellent, but for me it was too busy to use on a phone). After loading it onto my phone I was amazed at how easy it is to navigate. There are two Tables of Contents, one for the books and another that will take you to individual chapters. In the chapter headings there are quick links to go forward or backward to the adjacent chapter. This kindle version INCLUDES cross-references and footnotes! They also are easy to navigate, and are located at the end of each chapter so that you do not lose you place by ending up at the very end of the book. Other Bibles/reference books used take you to the very end, which makes it difficult to get back to what you were reading. I can't imagine a better format for a large Kindle book with references and footnotes. Just a quick note about the CSB translation, if you are not familiar with it. It is very reliable and easy to read. It conveys the Greek NT very well (I can read Koine Greek but not Hebrew). It compares well with the ESV and NASB and has not suffered from cultural pressures to translate verses in a way that are not offensive. Before you get offended, here's an example of what I mean: Look at Galatians 6:7 "So you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then God has made you an heir" [CSB]. Some of the newer versions will translate "son" to "child", which might be ok in some other verses but not this one. In Paul's culture, the son, especially the first born son, got the best inheritance. By leaving the Greek to say what it means ("son"), we are given to understand that Paul wants the readers to know that every Christian, regardless of gender or birth order, receives the very best inheritance. All of God's children will receive the same inheritance as the First Born Son! That is eternal life. Jesus is the true first born, but we all (again regardless of gender or birth order) get the same great first born son treatment - a full inheritance. By changing the Greek to read "children" or "sons and daughters", it still is a good message, but it loses much of Paul's intended emphasis. I highly recommend this Bible and especially this Kindle version.

One of the newest modern English translations of the Bible, and perhaps one of the best.
Last week I decided to add The Christian Standard Bible (CSB) to my growing library of Kindle Bible editions. This is one of the newest modern English translations to be published, having been released in 2017. My first impression is that it is a very good rendition of Scripture into contemporary English, perhaps even one of the best.According to the CSB preface, the translators of this Bible version are all conservative Christians who believe in the divine inspiration, inerrancy, and complete reliability of the Word of God. They employed what they term “optimal equivalence,” which means that they rendered the original Hebrew and Greek manuscripts into English using “corresponding semantic and linguistic equivalents to convey as much of the information of the original text with as much clarity and readability as possible.”I think they met this goal very well. I enjoy reading the CSB very much. The English is straightforward and easy to understand. Translators weren’t hesitant to change the word arrangement of verses in order to make them read more like people speak in the twenty-first century. For example: John 3:16 in the CSB reads: “For God loved the word in this way: he gave his one and only son so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” The CSB does give up a bit of the majestic “flavor” and “feel” of the King James, Revised Standard, and English Standard Versions, but it certainly is easy to read.“The CSB Kindle Edition is also reasonably easy to navigate. Cross-references and footnotes appear at the end of every chapter, and I can access them with hyperlinks. With a couple mouse clicks or touches of my device’s screen, I can access a very good drop-down menu that takes me to any book I choose. (I can’t navigate to verse level, however.) I can adjust font size and style in the same manner as other Kindle books. The biggest benefit, of course, is that I can read my Bible on any of my Kindle-compatible devices, including my laptop PC, Android tablets, and my smartphone.Highly recommended.

Kindle formatting is weird
I like this version of the Bible, my only issue is that the formatting is not Kindle-friendly. Maybe one day they’ll make one that’s easier to navigate on a Kindle.

This Bible is very good to read and easy to follow
This Bible is very good to read and easy to follow. The translation committee did an excellent job in most passages. I enjoy reading and understanding difficult areas that are hard to read in the older versions. The only area that I have with this version as with others id the way that the Psalms do not read as uplifting as the KJV. Most versions have not been able to do the Psalms as well or as comforting as the KJV. This includes many older versions from the 19th century till now. There are some Psalms that do read better, but for the most part do not have the uplifting or comfort reading of the KJV.The prose areas and the historical areas are excellent, it includes the actual Hebrew letters as well as the names of the Hebrew letters, which some do not and this is especially good as without these letters a version is not complete. This enhances this Bible for me as though the ESV is more popular, yet most of the ESV Bible DO NOT INCLUDE the actual Hebrew letters. This Bible does and that makes this Bible complete and very excellent. The 4 star is because of the way that the Psalms read in many areas. They may be accurately translated, but in areas there are some things that need improvement. But overall I would recommend this Bible as an accurate and well worth the money.

Don't buy the Kindle Edition
I have heard great things about this translation, so I bought the kindle edition to see for myself. Unfortunately I haven't been able to really see if I like the translation, as it is really poor quality. When I downloaded it onto my kindle paperwhite it caused it to freeze and restart multiple times. When I finally got it working I was disappoint with the slowness when changing pages. But the most annoying thing is the text itself. Verse numbers are randomly very large and bold in 1 Chronicles 8 which was very off putting. Jesus words are light grey so very hard to read.

Not Kindle Friendly
My church has switched to the CSB. I like to have my bible on my kindle paperwhite so that I can change the font size depending on what my poor old eyes need on any given day. Plus I take my kindle almost everywhere. This digital version of the CSB is a failure. The interactive links are so slow and usually causes either an error msg to be displayed or reboots my kindle. Not happy. I will be returning it for a refund.
