No complaints, works perfectly! Struggled to find a local-shop to cut this and instead found a service called Faster Auto Keys online, which allows you to send in a picture of your current car key along with this key blank. They then cut the key blank based on the image. After receiving the key, I followed a YouTube tutorial to program the chip for my 4Runner, and everything worked flawlessly. After trying and failing to get Home Depot and three different ACE Hardware stores to cut this, I highly recommended Faster Auto Keys.

This is a great solution for getting another chip key. (CAUTION: This will only work if you have one original “master” programmed key (we keep one in a safe) this worked on my 2005 Highlander. I have not tried it with another replacement key). My solution was to go and buy a plain cut door key, open the plastic top and take out the metal key, do the same for this key, it snaps open. Be careful not to lose the gray chip, they can fall out. use a drill to clean the hole where the key is attached and remove it. Cut or grind the cut key so it will fit into the same space (it is a straight shank) I used a little super glue and then snapped the key case back, ensuring the gray chip was in. once done, checked that the key worked in the door and ignition for motion. It should turn the engine over. Then I used this procedure to program the key: YES, it sounds silly, BUT IT DOES WORK!! 1. Open the driver’s door, all other doors closed but unlocked. 2. Without turning it, Insert master key in/out of ignition 5 times, leave key in on 5th insert. 3. Now close/open the driver door 6 times, leaving the door open the 6th time. 4. Pull out master key, the security light (on the left of the steering wheel in the panel) will light solid (program mode). Immediately insert the unprogrammed key DO NOT TURN. 5. Leave key in ign for 60-80 sec, security lights flashes, when it stops flashing. Remove replacement key. 6. Immediately insert Master key into ignition and turn it to on position, don’t start the car, then off and remove. Done! Now try the new key, the car should start. I had to do it a couple times but it worked and I now have a spare for my daughter’s car.

Should be 0 stars since there is no way to have this key cut to fit your vehicle. I've been to every local store that cuts keys and none of them will cut it. I have also tried 7 locksmiths. 1 is willing to try but there is no guarantee it will work and they still want over $300 to cut it. Cheaper, safer, and more reliable to purchase directly from the dealer or ACE Hardware. I had the same problem with a key I bought for another vehicle. Unfortunately I bought them both at the same time. Returns were not allowed

I purchased this key for my 2008 Toyota Solara. When I received my first key, I brought it to a lock smith with my master key. He cut the key but it would not turn the lock. He then requested my valet key, the one with the grey plastic head, because that gets used less often and would provide a more accurate pattern. The second key cut was successful and operated the locks properly. I tried the instructions from the website which came with the key multiple times without success. I had previously searched the reviews on Amazon before purchasing the key and had copied a programming sequence which was claimed to be successful. I tried this set multiple times, again without success. All these processes are time sensitive, so you need to be prompt. I then did a youtube search and found an alternative sequence for a 2008 Toyota Sienna. This sequence was simpler and it worked the first time. Read all instructions before starting process. Process is time sensitive 1) Close all doors 2) Insert your Master key (black) into the key cylinder 5 times within 35 sec. Leave key in ignition. 3) Immediately, after fifth master key insertion, Open and close driver door six times. Leave door closed. 4) Within 10 seconds of last door closing remove master key and insert key to be programmed 5) Leave in for 60 second until security light stops flashing 6) Remove new key Hope this will work for you.

We just purchased a used 2006 Toyota Sequoia Limited, and of course it came with only one key. I took this to the local Ace hardware store so it could be cut, and they only begrudgingly did it, because they were concerned about liability since I did not purchase it from them. Once I assured the salesman that I only paid $9 for the key here on Amazon, and would not be heartbroken in the least if they ruined it, they cut it for me. For free. Once I got home, I searched high and low to find the proper sequence to get it programmed. There were numerous different recipes that I saw, but absolutely none of them worked. Finally, after about two hours of absolute frustration, I happened to stumble across the recipe below. It worked on the first try! I couldn't be happier with this $9 purchase! I imagine the recipe below with work on the Tundra as well: 1) Close all doors 2) Insert your Master key (black) into the key cylinder 3) Turn the ignition from Lock to On 5 times within 15 seconds - on the 5th time, leave the key in the ON position 4) Open and close the driver's door 6 times within 20 seconds 5) Turn the Master key back to Lock and remove 6) Insert the new blank key and turn to ON position 7) Leave in ON position for at least 60 seconds (while the key registers with the vehicle) 8) After 60+ seconds, remove the key. 9) Open then Close the driver's door to end the process

There are various reviews on the net about these keys and that you can program them by putting the original key in and out of the ignition 4-5 times and opening and closeing the drivers door 6 times. That didnt work for my 2006 tacoma. The dealers key is $45 and their programming was $180 so paying $18 for this key, which i dont even know if Toyota can program, doesnt save u much and now its not a original toyota part.
