The formula was simple enough: Cockney wide boy Derek Trotter (brilliantly played by David Jason) dreams of better things for himself while sharing a cramped council flat in the nicely named Peckham tower block Nelson Mandela House with his unworldly brother Rodney and his sweet but doddery old granddad. Trouble is, Del's endless money-making schemes (such as his attempt to flog a consignment of one-legged turkeys, or his plan to sell bottled tap water) inevitably backfire, like the knackered old van he uses to cart around all this faulty gear. Created by John Sullivan, who also sings the very catchy theme song, Only Fools and Horses is a wonderful mix of dodgy but loveable characters (such as Del Boy's dimwit friend Trigger), knockabout slapstick (no one falls down with as much comedic grace as Jason), and brilliantly crafted dialogue. The show ran seven seasons and ended with characteristic warmth in 1991, when Del Boy became a father; but the Trotters made occasional returns to the small screens with six hugely popular one-off Christmas specials. As Del Boy himself might say: "Lovely jubbly." --Edward Lawrenson Product DescriptionHere together in one collection is every episode plus the specials of Britain's best-loved comedy series! Crafty cockney con man Derek Trotter (David Jason) dreams of making a fortune, but each dodgy deal and shady scheme always seems to end in disaster. And then there's his family to look after: loveable but hapless kid brother, Rodney; doddery old Grandad; and ex-seafaring Uncle Albert. This hilarious, life-affirming series is one of the most popular on British television, and the annual Only Fools and Horses Christmas specials became as fundamental a British holiday tradition as Christmas crackers and the Queen's Address to the Commonwealth. Only Fools and Horses boasts 13 top comedy awards including two Best Comedy BAFTAs, and the series finale, "Sleepless in Peckham" was viewed by two out of three British households on Christmas Day, 2003.

Great present
Got this for my partner for Christmas he loves this show 🙄 soooo much he's overwatched it to death! I regret buying him this but not because of the quality just because I don't get a break from it! Comes in a sturdy and not cheap looking box which stores all the dvds in :) looks really nice and it's a great present for an Only Fools and Horses fan :)

Don't be a dipstick all your life
Having read the reviews about the boxset having edits made here, there and everywhere I decided to take a chance and buy it and come to my own conclusion. The edits aren't all that bad and where the have been cut scenes such as "The Jolly boys outing", that was done because of the singer who was in contract with the BBC at the time, so that scene couldn't make it to the DVD release. Other songs are cut from the set because of copyright laws.Series 1 through to series 7 excluding the specials are unaffected and are great to watch in its nostalgic glory. With the specials, it is mainly "A Royal Flush", "The Jolly boys Outing" and "Miami Twice" that have major editing to them. The rest of the boxset just has some minor audio replaced with no dialogue missing. One thing that annoys me about the second part of "Miami Twice" is the addition of canned laughter. It isn't in the TV version and I feel that it is unneccesary and spoils the seriousness of the dialogue. The episode "Little problems" of series 6 really surprised me and that was that the BBC have left in Simply Red's song "Holding back the years" is still in place despite other reviewers saying it had been cut.It is easy to mixup the DVDs in this set so I bought some stickers and wrote their list order down so I could keep them in order in the box.The boxset, in my opinion, is really worth buying despite some of the cuts and edits in places so my advice is for you to buy it while it is still available.

Every episode, every special, represents the best of British comedy
Only Fools and Horses is quite simple the best sitcom ever made. There are a wealth of episodes that are just classic pieces of television. The incident with chandelier, falling leaning against the bar in the wine bar, Rodney pretending to be 14, my personal favourite the "Stage Fright" with the song "Cwying" and the medley of "wok 'n' woll". When I first saw that particular episode I was literally rolling round the floor paralysed with laughter. You can see Nicholas Lyndhurst, in particular struggling to deliver his lines with a straight face in this one.All the specials are included, and particularly in these there are elements of sensitivity mixed in with the comedy.I have various individual series DVD's and some videos presentations. But, I have some gaps in the collection. So I bought this to consolidate everything in one box, on one format. The presentation of the box is good, with the DVD's arranged with the spine colouring moving though the spectrum from red to blue. The practical side to this is that I can have a sort out of the cupboard that houses DVD's, videos and CD's.

One of the best TV series ever
Only Fools and Horses is one of the funniest comedy series ever to be put on television and it good to be able to see it in sequence at a time of one's own choosing.Of course the acting is superb, but the real credit must go to the writer, John Sullivan, who was able to keep each episode and special, consistently excellent, while still developing the characters and the storyline. A truly great comedy writer.

Not the complete collection
Bought this in advance as a gift. Have just heard back from the recipient - two copies of Fatal Extraction/Heroes and Villains, no copy of Miami Twice/Mother Nature's Son. Not the complete collection then - very disappointing.

Lovely Jubbly
5 Stars? absolutely! A bargain of the 1st order. If you want to watch re-runs you have to subscribe to UK Gold that screen them most days and they wont give up all the episodes that they acquired, presumably at a huge expense, so don't expect to see any on terrestrial or Freeview any time soon - if ever. This box set probably doesn't cost one months subscription to Gold (and the other channels that you have to pay for but might not want) If you love Only Fools And Horses this is the only way to go...…... No Brainer.
