I have one leg shorter than the other from a birth defect and have known for years that I needed a heel lift. I haven't used the ones that I have had in the past because they kept slipping around and were just a nuisance. After a doctor's visit showed that my 48 year old right knee was in the early stages of arthris because of the lack of alignment, I realized I needed to do something.I ordered these because of the other reviews and I found them to be everything that everyone said: the gel was comfortable, the yellow spot was not. They didn't smell bad after wearing, either. It was an ok answer, but not the best. Then I made a couple of adaptations.1. I pulled out my shoe's insoles and placed the heel lift in and then replaced the shoe's insole. This not only helped make them less noticable, they also prevented them from slipping.2. As I only needed one heel lifted, I turned the other one over and used it in another shoe.3. I first tried to slip it in to fit the form of the shoe (right lift turned upside down to align with the left foot shoe). That made the yellow middle hurt like crazy. I then just turned it up with the cushion side down. It didn't fit exactly, but with the shoe's original insole above it, it wasn't noticeable at all.4. I will note that I used them in my dress shoes and my tennis shoes both. The tennis shoes had their insoles replaced by Dr. Scholl's athletic insoles. The tennis shoes with upgrades insoles were perfect. I'm going to change the dress shoes out to better insoles.All in all, this was one of the best adaptions I have ever made. Just spoke to my Orthopedic doc and he said I was a genius. As much as I pay him, I'm sure he's very smart. Good lifts... I recommend them. I'm buying another set because I have 4 sets of shoes.

The other reviews about the hard round piece in the heal are somewhat correct. It makes it uncomfortable to stand in these for a long time. However, if you're walking around you don't really notice it. The material on the bottom is nice and cushy and is made out of a non-slip material to keep it securely in place. Overall I'm happy with this product.12/21/14 Update: I've been using these daily for nearly two years. I've finally gotten tired of moving them from one pair of shoes to another. I've decided to buy three more pairs. I don't understand the complaints about the insert sliding around. The bottom cushion gel is non slip. It has never moved around in any pair of shoes I've worn them in. After two years they are going strong. However, I don't believe they add 1/2" to height, more like 1/4-1/3

1. Like other reviewers mentioned, these slid down my shoes toward my toes until I put them under the shoe insole. That kept them in place.2. I could feel the transition from the pad to the shoe base, which was a little awkward.3. These were nice and gelly. I wanted something a little firmer to help heal my Achilles tendonitis. These let my foot roll a little too much for that.4. After the first time wearing these, the felt-like surface wore away at all the friction points. I'll upload a photo.5. There was no packaging with these...they were simply loaded into a brown envelope and shipped to me.All that being said, I'd buy these again.

Had my left hip replaced, leaving my left leg 1/2" longer than my right. I used one of the 1/2" shoe inserts for my size 11 outdoor shoes and the other for my size 11 indoor sandals. They fit well, stay in place, are very comfortable, and allow me to walk more normally. Highly recommended!

I recently had a hip replacement and now my one leg is longer than the other. I use one of these inserts in my other shoe to balance out the difference in height. Absolutely perfect. They are comfortable, and durable. I have ordered 3 more pairs for all my shoes. I totally recommend these.

Definitely comfy and cheap! These turned my converse into the most comfortable pair of shoes I've EVER owned. It would be nice if they were a tad shorter though, as I have to tighten them up a little extra too keep heel from slipping, though but terrible and other reviews suggest durability is not the best, so now that I know what a huge difference some thick insoles can make, I'll probably add more of find others, but for $6 and in a hurry. Yes.
