The Mass Book for Catholic Children Paperback – October 3, 2017

This book enables children, ages 7-12, to journal about their experience of Catholic Mass. To journal on any level helps us remember what was important and how we felt about an experience. Activities in this book help the child look and listen at their level of awareness. There is also opportunity to think about how to prepare for Mass, as well as how this experience fits into life after going to Mass. At the end of the book, there is a place to keep a record of dates when Sacrament of Reconciliation was received. Simple and yet very effective.

I bought this as a gift for my Goddaughter who will be receiving her 1st Communion this year. I am a church Music & Liturgy Director and I observe her at Mass. She's bored – and I get that – but she's a very smart girl. I wanted to get her something that might help her understand what is happening at Mass so that she can appreciate the gift of her faith. As a liturgist, I know that the better you understand what's happening, the more engaged you can feel.

I got this one for my 7 year old and she couldn’t quite get into it. I think she might like it more in a year or two.

Love this book. My son commented that it keeps him engaged in mass and I couldn’t agree more. It also encourages me to read the gospel to them before mass and discuss it so they have an idea of what to draw. I highly recommend this book but encourage you to take some time to look over the book with your children prior to mass. It will help limit questions during mass.

This book is a great idea, but it quickly overwhelmed my 7 year old- trying to tally how many times he hears Jesus, listening for key words, the readings, and drawing the Gospel. He was frantically going from one thing to the next. So instead, we filled out as much as we could at home first.

This book has helped my 8 year old son stay focused during mass. He is preparing for his 1st Communion and has helped him A LOT to stay focused and listen for key words. I highly recommend this book for any kiddo who needs something to focus on during mass.

It’s helping her stay engaged in the mass, which helps me stay engaged. I especially like the part of the book that reminds us all to be reflective and prayerful before mass begins. I think this has helped her chat and play less while we celebrate mass together. She loves bringing her book to mass, too.

I bought this book for my 9 year old. I keep a Mass Journal and that seemed a bit beyond him but he wanted to have SOMETHING. I got this and it has definitely helped keep his focus on the Mass and made him follow along more closely!

I ordered 4 books for my children and I'm so pleased I did! They are excited about getting to mass this Sunday so they can start filling it out! A great journal for any child to keep them focused on the mass!

Great book to keep kids interested in mass

This is excellent for keeping a child interested in case his attention wanders. Very good idea.
