MEG [DVD]

Watch this if you like 1 dimensional characters, obvious plot, cliche, bad acting and even worse direction. The portrayal of African American's was woeful, the only black guy was some throw back to 80s, no lines and predictable. But at least he did not die. Jason Statham, well I guess this is how he pays the bills. The Asian actress must be someone's daughter because she was really poor. Waste of a fiver. There were some redeeming moments but this is not Jaws, which was a classic. Its closer to Sharknado. A few nice moments and a bit of suspense but definitely a wallpaper movie.

In fact, Jaws was a masterpiece. Not so much because of the believable scary scenes pulled off with a plastic shark, but because of one's investment in the characters and the emotional ride you get as a result. So, I wasn't expecting The Meg to be nearly as good, all I wanted was a good solid 3 star shark movie..! Unfortunately this movie is so bad that I didn't give a toss about any of the characters. The plot is crap, the dialogue full or throwaway one liners, and with those elements setting the stage, you can throw as much CGI at it as you like, it's still a crap movie.

Here we have a 21st century version of Jaws, there is even a hint of the famous theme as "The Mega"b approaches. Jason Statham shows off his six pack to a young woman but to me the person who steals the show is the little Chinese girl.The visual effects are good but the story seems too far fetched, I rented it and am glad it will delete within 48 hours after I watched it. Not a disc I'd like to own and cherish but a film that you watch and forget.Jason can do better then that.

Honestly not sure what these film critics were expecting going in to this one, the trailer is not misleading and the film is everything you would expect from hearing the basic plot and castYou certainly won't get nightmares after this but there are some tense scenes that will keep your attentionI thought the cast was pretty solid and CGI looked greatA middle ground film. not amazing but a fun watch, 3 stars easy

This has elements of every creature and disaster film going, from Jaws to Jurassic Park to Appollo 13 by way of Star Wars. And Jason Statham overacting and saving everyone (despite the fact that he is Disillusioned, Cynical and has Tirned to Drink). If you just go with it, it's a great Friday Night family movie and doesn't take itself too seriously. Look out for Pippin at the end for single most ludicrous moment.....

I didn't have particularly high hopes for this movie but it turns out to be a very enjoyable film. It's sharp, smart and funny in all the right measures. It doesn't take itself too seriously and is the better for it.

I just got this today I am going to watch it with my husband tonight, I am really excited to watch it, it sounds like it will beBrilliant. I am pleased with my purchase.

Can't really say much about this film as it's just... well...meh. It's not awful there are some good bits of action, ok special effects but its a little predictable and overall just not that great. Although the megolodon itself is much bigger than Jaws, that doesn't make it a better film. If you have nothing else to watch then it's definitely a way that you can spend some time doing something.
