Pokémon Adventures Gold & Silver Box Set (Set Includes Vols. 8-14) (Pokémon Manga Box Sets)

Pokemon Gold and Silver were my favorite games when they came out in the US in 2000, and they've always had a special place in my heart. And also, I previously read the Pokémon Red and Blue manga, and loved it! So I had to get this manga box set, which is based on the Gold and Silver games and picks up where the first 7 volumes left off. The Pokemon manga is great, and I very much enjoyed reading these volumes. The Gold and Silver box set follows the adventure of Gold, an unlikely new Pokemon trainer, and his mysterious rival, Silver. Characters from the Pokemon Red and Blue manga (volumes 1-7) return as well, so there's something for everyone. There's an exciting story, lots of twists, and many characters fans will recognize, all of which make for a great read. I love this series, and I think its perfect for longtime Pokemon veterans and new fans alike.

I bought these for a 12 year old boy who is Dyslexic. He had been in Special ED at school for 5 years but he continued to have trouble reading so he did not enjoy reading. Once I started buying the Pokemon books he started reading more. These are simple to read and easy for him to read. After he reads a book I have him write a 2 or 3 sentence book report for each book. He must complete the book reports for every book in the collection before I order him the next collection. It took him a couple of months to complete the reading and book reports for the first 2 collections I bought. Now he has the books read and the book reports written within a couple of week. He told me the other day he is enjoying reading. Thank you Hidenori Kusaka for writing these books.

When you read Pokémon Adventures Red & Blue, you rush through pages because there's just so much emotion and action and you can't wait for the next volume and you least expect it, it's over! In Gold & Silver, the story has a slower pace, but this isn't bad at all! Now the characters can be a lot better developed and here I must say that it's impressive how Hidenori Kusaka writes his characters well! You could notice this already in the first 7 volumes, but here it's incredible how he makes characters not so important in the games, such as Gold's mom, Joey, and many others likeable so easily. The drawings of Mato continue as beautiful as ever and Satoshi Yamamoto makes a good job replacing her. So if you style yourself a Pokémon fan, if you enjoy playing the franchise games or if you simply want to have fun with a nice story of ambitious children who do anything to accomplish their objetives, then you should probably get your hands on this box as well, especially after having read the Red & Blue edition.

I enjoyed the introduction to the new characters,and it's unique how they each use pokeballs so definitely the story was great too

This short Story's are very addicting. My boy can't wait to come home and read. The books are about 200 pages long some are more. It's published as if made in Japan. You read the book starting from back to front meaning Right to Left. Not like Amercan standard books left to right. The book is full of Art and small comics as well. Overall Perfect for Pokemon Fans

Chegou no dia, tudo bem embalado e mesmo na chuva o produto não foi danificado. O poster é meio pequeno, mas é bom q dá pra guardar mais fácil. A caixa é linda. Só que se vc tá procurando um yaoi pra ler recomendo a versão em português ou o emerald 3 que é o com mais gayzisse

(In English): Great quality books/manga for children & Pokemon fans. The story revolves around the original videogames and it adds more depth to the characters & monsters, showing us additional information about these beloved characters. However, it is NOT required to have played the games, so there is no problem if you are "newbie" to this franchise. Everything is explained in the books. It is required some English knowledge or vocabulary to understand the plot, but it is really easy to grasp. It is a good material to engage children whose mother tongue is not English. The package is completely sealed and it includes a mini-poster, really lovely. The delivery was fast enough (2-3 weeks, more or less) if we keep in mind that UK is outside of EU right now . I didn't have to pay taxes, thankfully. But I guess it depends on the Destination Country & their Border & Custom laws and the service itself (maybe they stop - or npt- some packages to charge - or not- some "extra-fees" for Importation). Overall, it is a really good product. 10/10 (In Spanish): Una colección/serie de mangas de gran calidad para niños y fans de Pokemon, en general. La historia gira alrededor de la historia de los videojuegos, añadiendo más profundidad e información adicional a estos personajes tan queridos por los fans. Sin embargo, NO es necesario haber jugado a los videojuegos previamente, así que no hay problema si eres "nuevo" o si es tu 1ª vez con esta franquicia. Cada historia funciona por sí misma y todo está explicado en los propios libros. Se requieren ciertos conocimientos del Inglés y su vocabulario para entender la trama, pero es un inglés relativamente asequible y fácil de entender. Lo recomendaría para muchachos de unos 10 años en adelante, aproximadamente. Es un buen material para atraer a niños a la lectura cuyo idioma nativo NO es inglés. El paquete vino completamente sellado e incluye un mini-poster de los personajes. Está bastante chulo. El envío fue bastante rápido (en torno a 2-3 semanas) si tenemos en cuenta que Reino Unido se encuentra actualmente fuera de la UE. Por suerte, yo no tuve que pagar tasas, pero supongo que esto dependerá de las leyes de Aduanas e Importación de cada país, e incluso del servicio en sí mismo (tal vez deciden - o no- parar en Aduanas el paquete y cobrarte - o no- una tasa "extra" por Importación de mercancías). Un buen producto, en general. Muy satisfecho con la compra. 10/10

Die Bände 8 - 14 des Pokémon Manga erzählen die Geschichte von Gold, Silver sowie Cystal. Dabei beginnt der Manga getreu den Videospielen mit dem Diebstahl eines Pokémons. Silver entwendet eines von Professor Lind, Gold leiht sich ein weiteres aus, um Silver zu verfolgen. Crystal kommt etwas später hinzu und wird von Professor Eich damit beauftragt, einen Pokédex mit den Daten sämtlicher bekannter Pokémon zu füllen. Wie in den Spielen ist die Story auf der Rückkehr von Team Rocket aufgebaut und zeigt einige bekannte Schauplätze wie die Alph-Ruinen oder den See des Zorns inklusive dem roten Garados. Die drei sind jedoch nicht auf sich allein gestellt, denn im Laufe der Geschichte stoßen Red, Blue, Green und Yellow hinzu, um sie zu unterstützen. Auch die Arenaleiter von Kanto und Johto spielen eine wichtige Rolle, ebenso die legendären Pokémon. Die Neuerungen der zweiten Spielegeneration wurden zum Teil ebenfalls im Manga verarbeitet, darunter die Pension und das Ausbrüten von Eiern. Auch die Geschlechter spielen eine kleine Rolle. Wie schon in verherigen Bänden sind die Zeichnungen sehr ansprechend und die Geschichte etwas brutaler als der Anime (man sieht z. B. wie die Flegmons am Flegmonbrunnen ihre Ruten verlieren). Eine schöne Fortsetzung des Manga, dessen Englisch ebenso gut zu verstehen ist.
