Finally the true story of Winnie the Pooh
This wonderful book serves many purposes. It tells the true story of the American baby bear and how the military vet found it on a railway siding on his way to war and bought him from the owner who had inadvertently shot its mother. Interestingly it follows the bear's fortunes through and after the war when the vet could no longer keep it as the army mascot and how it ended up in a London Zoo. That was when the young boy fell in love with the bear and kept visiting it. The boy's father happened to be a writer of children's stories and verse who created the famous Christopher Robin series about the boy and the bear. It is a picture book fit for children learning to read with a fascinatingly true and most charming story.

True story
This is a touching true story and worth a read. I know young children would love to read this book, or have someone read it to them. I bought it for my own enjoyment and I am a very senior individual.

Great book for both adults and children.
I bought it for a friend who loves, "Winnie-the-Pooh," and has two children of her own. I grew up with these books and am now 73. I am English and although I did not go through World War II my grams did and she was the one who introduced the stories to me. This is a really great book and the illustrations are amazing.

Great addition to our library
My 7 year son and I both really enjoyed this book. We both learned new things about Winnie-the-pooh. Easy to read, informative, and the art work was great. Pictures of Winnipeg, the real Christopher Robins, etc were a great addition. I highly recommend this book!

I really enjoyed this story behind Winnie The Pooh
I really enjoyed this story behind Winnie The Pooh. I never knew what inspired the tales. My grandson who is 5 got a little bored with it. The illustrations could have been better to keep his attention. However he had many questions about the real Winnie, and was interested if Winnie the Pooh was real too! So had to do a little more explaining, but he told me he really liked the book. I would suggest it for a little older child.

Great story, but too expensive for the thin book. Great pictures. It is the book that you read it once and then it lays down on your shelfs
