an above average set
i've installed a few generic 3 stage 10" for neighbors, and thanks to a amazon warehouse open box was able to buy WP-2 LCV for myself to replace an old counter top unit. i used it as an excuse to replace my aging 3 hole faucet set during the same effort (filtered, hot&cold, sprayer). sadly my 50% off box was open enough for the faucet to fall out, so i replaced it with a better quality spare i had left over from other installs so it worked out.in NYC you can get away with 2 stages because all you really need is particulates (mechanical) and chloramine (chemical) filters so i didn't use the included carbon block which is really optimized for metals and voc which is not really an issue in most post war NYC apt. i gave the filter to a friend living in Philly where they drink processed river water full of metal and voc risk.i interrupted a 1/2" cold side hose connection with the included T connector tap, which from it's weight i'd guess is ceramic. despite only being a 90° turn, it was not full on full off but allowed for partial on in case you want to lower your flow rate which i consider optimal whenever you are doing chemical filtration.since the included T water filter hose connection is a push in (no screw on collar like the cans) i added my own silicon grease to increase adhesion and insure the seal. the blue and green water hoses connect to the cans with an added screw on collar which i like to see, yet also greased up, as well as the o-ring inside each can. i tested the 10" filter clearance to make sure there was no extra space at the top or bottom of each filter for water to cheat the media and simply flow above and below the 10" filter.you can do this by adding a gasket from another filter, and if you can't fully water tight close the can, you know the original single gasket should do the trick on it's own. when you look at other review photos, keep in mind this set has been on the market for nearly 15 years, so over time Watts must have changed and improved things a bit, because the unit i got was fairly robust and more trustworthy than some of the other generic junk i've seen for sale. still, if you DIY you may wanna invest $5-$10 in a battery water alarm just in case... i always do this for every under counter filter i install, just so everyone can sleep better at night knowing that it isn't raining on their downstairs neighbor...

Cleaner City water
I had originally used the Brita add-on water filter with the smaller carbon block filters. It was ok but left something to be desired. This unit makes a world of a difference over the Btira. Even though our city water is "clean", this makes it so much more enjoyable and tea/coffee much better. Of course this is all subjective but knowing that this is a VOC and other contaminate filter is a great bonus over the Brita in the event city water might be compromised without the city knowing. This unit is now used for all drinking and for humidifiers (ultrasonic)Pros:Benefits of this design is that it's universal, meaning any filter element can be used.simple installation (if you've done some plumbing before)All-in-one kitAllows the use of sink and water filter at the same time unlike the other add-on units.inexpensive vs btia filter costs (filter life per volume of water)Cons:Water tap unit into main line. It leaked slightly when the plastic line was not aligned correctly.Does not include a wrench to change filter when that's needed. Had to order a "Watts WR-100 Filter Housing Wrench"Annoyances:Slow flow. Not really a big issue knowing what it's filtering but it can take time to fill a pitcher.Packaging, others noted broken parts but I did not have any. It's sitting in a box with no internal padding so the filter plastic bits that are sticking out are at riskConcerns:Given the other reviewers notes about line blowout I was initially worried. I ran the unit with the valve open just slightly so that pressure is there but if it blows out I wouldn't have a flooded kitchen. I've since have it on full volume now and still no leaks or signs of blowout. Possible issues with others' installations might be due to stressed plastic lines, or in other words extreme twists and stresses on the junctions?Suggestions:For the DIY people out there, don't work/force the lines into place. If it takes any effort to install the water lines then you're probably doing it wrong and risk a blowout of the plastic lines.4-star: No wrench and concerning plastic parts. Otherwise great unit and I do recommend it.

works well
I came across this product in Home Depot BC, and after doing some search on internet , i bought it because online price was lower ; and HD store recommended this product over a smaller similar water filter.Installation was not difficult and it took me two hours to locate , connect to cold water lead and place two screws for hanging this unit under the sink cabinet.I was a little weary on the plastic diverter / shut off valve and plastic compression joint but it all went well and is working as it designed to be. I bought the extra filter and wrench as i find turning this thing with manual muscle power is straining. All in all, this thing works well and i have been drinking tasty water from the unit. One star off for having to depress the lever all the time to fill, i would prefer if this thing has a shut off valve to save my thumb.

Water tastes great.
This was my first experience with a filtering system other than a Brita. I looked at Rev osmosis, but after reading reviews discovered that they dump almost 75% more water than they produce. A 2 stage system works for us as we already have some of the cleanest tap water in the world. It is however high in minerals. The system was easy to install, with directions. The inlet valve included was a bonus as I was expecting one of those cheap saddle valves included with other systems. I had a leak from the compression fitting at the tap. When I first turned the system on. That was corrected after I reconnected it. Making sure the hose was pushed fully into the stem. After running the recommended 3 gallons through the system the water came out a little bit cloudy at first. This is due to air. After settling and tasting the first glass, I'm convinced this was a great buy. The flow is very good. Faster than a Brita. And tastes better.

A Good Water Filter
Good unit. The parts included did not match up to what I had but, there was enough there to get it working except for making a fitting for the cold water supply. I'm pretty handi,(had to solder a joint) for those of you who aren't it would of been a problem. It took a while to get the bubbles out of the water but it's ok now, (ie: 7 days) I live by myself so there isn't a lot of water flow. For those who are having problems with leaking etc. Make sure your joints are tight. Leaks are an instillation problem not a purchase problem. The water taste I'm sure is an area or local problem. For me it made a good glass of water. The water supply was 4 liters in 3 minutes. To me that was good. I can't drink that much water in a minute anyway...ha..But I drilled a 1/8" hole in the supply line to the carbon filter, that hole looked to me to be way to small. I wanted good flow..(.I like my coffee in the morning) I could be wrong but, everything is working good. For those of you that said it was a bad taste, better check your water supply or your filter recommendations they could be wrong...try a different filter.Get back to me if I I can help you,......You shouldn't have to put up with bad water taste. Hell...that is the essential of life......for Gods sakes..........

Easy to install and great tasting water
Installation was easy since I am a handy person and have done this before, took me about half an hour total. The only thing I don't like is the flow rate is low I guess because it has to travel through the two filter elements. But the water taste very good even after 6 months of using it. I have had this filter system now for almost three years and only changed the filter elements once. It is a great water filtration system that is fairly inexpensive.
