Nice But with a Couple of Problems
I bought three of these Quoizel ML182AUL Melon Lights. Materials and workmanship are very good and all parts were present. However, assembling the parts into the fixture while installing them on the ceiling was a bit of a nightmare, as I did not have four hands or an assistant and could never figure out how to get one lockwasher to defy gravity and move into place. Be that as it may, once on the ceiling the lamps looked great. Metal finish, glass appearance, etc.--all very nice indeed. Then a couple of months later I looked up and saw one of the glass shades was cracked from the center hole to the rim. No problem, I thought, as it is still under warranty. Well, not really. Quoizel did respond to my inquiry about a replacement shade, but charged me for it.Why did the shade crack? My hypothesis is that a standard A19 light bulb is a very tight fit in these lights. So, I think the heat from the bulb in close proximity to the glass cracked the shade, even though the bulb was less than the maximum wattage. I've since substituted smaller, A15 bulbs to provide some clearance. I sure hope this stops the shades from cracking! By the way, nothing about using A15s was mentioned in the instructions. In sum, for quality materials and appearance (when not cracked) I give these lamps 5 stars. For ease of assembly 2 stars. For Quoizel customer service 3 stars. Final rating 4 stars.

We love the light fixture, however...
This is a replacement fixture. We had the same fixture in our kitchen for over 15 years, but one day it came crashing to the ground. Luckily, no one was in the kitchen when it happened. We liked the way it looked so much that we purchased another identical fixture and will check it monthly to make sure it is not coming loose. Had it not been for the broken fixture, we would have rated it 5 stars.

Quality
This matched our other hall light bought about 10 years ago. I was so happy to find a match.

Quality lighting.
Inexpensive, but attractive for the hallway.

Not Safe
Exactly the same issue. The globe stays up for a while and then falls and breaks. There is not enough room to screw it in to make it safe. Fire the designer.

Dangerous design flaw
We chose several of these fixtures for our home because we liked their simple, clean lines; we wanted ceiling fixtures that wouldn't draw any attention to themselves. While the fixtures suit our esthetic purposes, potential buyers should be aware of a serious design flaw. The metal piece that screws on to attach the glass globe to the ceiling--for lack of knowing the right word I'll call it a finial--is almost flat, only about 1/4" deep, and it is nearly impossible to grasp well enough to screw it in securely or to unscrew it when you need to replace the bulb. The globe from one of our fixtures has fallen to the floor twice, the second time shattering and spraying shards of glass all over the room. Luckily no people or pets were underneath it either time, as the globe is quite heavy and would certainly have caused injury, but I'm not sure potential buyers will want to take that risk. The second time it happened I called Quoizel customer service to describe the problem and to see if there were any other finials available that were easier to work with; the indifferent customer service rep I spoke to said, basically, sorry, that's the way we sell them. If my family is having this problem I can't imagine that others aren't also, and I would NOT recommend buying these fixtures until and unless they change the design to make them safer.

Quiozel, a winner!
My ex and I used almost all Quoizel when we built our house 1988-1991 for inside fixtures. We used mostly the polished brass in this same style. Then, I finished more rooms later and used the brass and Palladian Bronze. They held up excellent except for one that somebody got some gunk on and apparently handled with toxic hands. I am now buying a new Palladium finsh for my basement hallway and possibly 2 new polished brasses if I can't replace my broken globes in the closets. I would rather have these in the closests. They give a noticeable elegance to my more rustic looking used-brick house. I like that bit of finerness here and there. It reminds me that it can be real if the powers that be would just let it all happen.I was surprised to find the same style as my old ones, just recently online, because when looked some years back, I could not find the same style.

Two Stars
No installation instructions what a nightmare trying to figure it out
