Light Reading
Ms Gilman tried to weave lots of herbalist ideas into a mystery. Not engrossing, but I read it all the way through.

the action never stops with these nuns!
I had no idea of the story when I started. Quite surprising happy book with lots of twists and turns. The bad guys were plenty but the nuns have God on their side.

A Blast From the Past
If anyone wants to recapture the feeling of the early 70’s, just read this book. There are excellent plot lines, a bit of mystery, and great characters.

Is okay
The book is an okay read but her Mrs Pollifax ones are better.

fun and amusing
Sister Hyacinthe and Sister John set out to check out a property left to their abbey. The don't know anything about the man who bequeathed this property to them or why. An amazing adventure for these two nuns who travel from the cloister of their abbey into the "world" and encounter mafia, hit men, hidden money, disguised cocaine and a wounded man hidden in a closet asking for sanctuary. They nurse the man back to health and hide him as "sister Ursula". Sister John's faith and their lack of world knowledge makes them friends gets them out of some close calls. The setting of this book is the seventies, something some consider to be outdated but for someone who graduated high school in 1970, it brought back lots of memories of the decade. It's a light read and I recommend it for anyone who maybe wants a break from some of the more serious mysteries.

Great book...
This is one of Dorothy Gilman's finest novels outside of her Mrs. Pollifax series. I love the juxtaposition of nuns, the Mafia, the FBI and counterculture leftovers from the 1960s...and of course, Bhanjan Singh...

Sister Ursula, the unexpected guest claim!ing sanctuary;_the nun in the closet!
Although it has am improbable lot there were lessons to be learned and I giggled over so!e parts involving the innocence of the cloistered nunsand the total misunderstanding of the people they encounter as they go to claim an unlikely inheritance. A total change from Gilham's Mrs. Polifax mystery series.

Review of Nun in the Closet
The concept of this story about a group of nuns inheriting an old abandoned house is a good one, and I looked forward to reading it. I also enjoyed hearing about them subsisting on herbs and foods found in nature. I was okay with whom they found to be using the old house for nefarious purposes. I would have changed the neighbors into more conventional neighbors, who were still very helpful to the nuns, because the situation of the neighbors used made the story very confusing for a pleasant reading. I liked the book, but I would change just a few elements to make it better in my opinion..
