Screaming For Vengeance
After 58-almost 59-years on this planet,i longed for some new band to come along for me to love-now that Rush have retired-musically everything is pretty grim....but then.....As AA are classed as Death Metal,i knew it would not be for me but I bought this on the off chance it would be good-and it did not disappoint...I`m not a fan of Cookie Monster/Growly vocals but when it`s possible to actually hear what`s being sung then I`m ok with it-couple that with the superb relentless onslaught of the music and the great production, then you can`t go wrong...I`ve played this 2/3 times a day since I bought it less than a week ago and I`ve also bought 3 more albums/the live dvd, hopefully I`ll buy the rest of the albums soon.....I think classing the band as Melodic Death Metal does them a disservice as they derserve a bigger audience who thrive on solid, loud, pounding Heavy Metal......

Return of the Riffmeisters
I 'found' Amon Amarth when in a fit of listening boredom listened to Jomsviking - followed quickly by buying all of the previous albums. On each one I found one or two songs that just nailed it. Beyond riffy and heavy as an anvil. Complimented by growling vocals that really shouldn't work but do. Amon Amarth have been a regular on my playlists since and are especially good in the gym.And here we are at their new album and it's an utter killer of a riffing beast. Whereas Jomsviking had a couple of standouts - in particular 'The Way of Vikings,' this album is far more consistent. In fact after a couple of spins I can't find any songs that are head and shoulders above the rest - in a good way. Each one has something to offer and there are none which you skip over. Most of all it's about the bludgeoning guitars. They are an utter powerhouse of thundering, catchy, headbanging, balls to the wall things. I don't know of a current band that is so focused on creating incredibly good riffs that you just cannot ignore. Fabulous stuff.Overall, this is a solid gold, 10 out of 10 effort. And even as an old bloke I had to try and stop myself nodding my head in the gym as this battered my eardrums.

Misleading reviews
This is my first purchase of this band. I read in one review that they were "melodic death metal". In my opinion , apart from the vocals they pay quite a debt to classic metal. This is not a minus , it's a plus. Good stuff.

Epic metal
Had one listen through so far, and it didn't disappoint.Stand out tracks so far - Shield Wall and Crack the Sky, although I'm sure the overall epicness will only increase with further listenings.Highly recommended.

Music great. Packaging poor.
I agree with a previous reviewer. The music is excellent but you are left disappointed with the cheap cardboard cover. It's impossible to get the cd out of the very tight cover without getting a couple of light marks on it.

viking metal mofos
Blistering hard metal with crunching riffs and catchy bits too, though doing nothing to diversify from their image as retro Vikings, this is a solid album.
