Excellent Value!
This is a quality rest for bench shooting. It is cast iron base with enough weight to be stable and very adequate vertical adjustment. Definitely worth the money. May be the best bang for the buck out there. 55years reloading & shooting

Works well with Remington 700, a bit too big for a Glenfield model 60
I received this item in the late afternoon and was using it 30 minutes later. The Rock went together very easy with no issues. It made a good cradle for the 700 but a bit too small for the Glenfield. The Rock came with a rear bag which was okay for the 700, but was not high enough for the 60. So, I placed an old shot bag under it to raise the stock up. This was an easy fix and I will just deal with it. (Hard to make something to fit all) I purchased this for the 60, simple to use, fast adjustments, and very smooth (a little gun oil goes a long ways!) I had read a post about the main screw cam getting stuck, burrs or something. Not the issue here, very well machined. Overall, the material, bags, are well made, look nice and very stable. There's nothing wrong with where this item was made, China, but then again, a great person once said, "it's a nice tie and it looks great" Ty

Good Product
Used this right after receiving it to sight in a rifle. Good mount up front, easy to adjust. The rear bag is small and too short but that is workable. Overall it does the job just fine and is a good item for the price.

A no BS review
I like the rest but was suspicious when I saw the box it was in. Appeared to have been opened before. All items were in the box so I put it together then noticed the paint was chipped on one of the legs. The ram screw that holds the elevation ram in place was very sloppy. The rest seemed to work ok and I like the way it works but it wasn't in what I'd call new condition. If it wasn't used then shame on their quality control dept. Ordered another one and will send this one back. I think I'm going to like it based on how it looks and feels but I think the one I got was either used or slipped by quality control. Update: The replacement is exactly what I expected this rest to be. Much better condition and works perfectly. This rest is way better than the Caldwell Rock Deluxe. Heavier, controls are much more ergonomic, and the horizontal control makes it so much easier to use. I've been using the Deluxe model for 8 years and this one blows it away. If you're trying to decide between these two Caldwell rests, save a little more money and buy this one. The difference in price is well worth it. Why 4 stars? Caldwell has designed a nice affordable rest that works but quality control is missing. This is not meant to be the most precise rest on the market, but they could make this much better if they just tightened up a few things. You will need to grease the contact points on the bearings and screw in rams to make this thing perform like it should. Check all of the screws etc. and read the directions on how to make a few adjustments that might be needed. They aren't set perfectly from the factory. Well, some are and some aren't. You will also need a much better bag. The one that comes filled is very mediocre and looks cheap. I use slick Protektor front and rear bags and they work perfectly with this rest. Bottom line. To get a much better rest, than this one, you'll need to spend a LOT more money. This one will give you very precise shooting adjustments and is very solid. You WILL have to mess with it to get everything like you like it but that's part of the fun. This is perfect for the average to very good shooter. If you are a very precise precision shooter and want to compete with the big boys, you'll need to spend the money. But for the bang for the buck, for 95% of the shooters out there, you probably can't beat this rest.

Awesome Value!
Just received this last night. I thoroughly inspected it and found the quality to be very good for the price-point. It's made in China, so the workmanship doesn't compare to a Sinclair rest. However, the rest and its parts show care in assembly and design. Most of the parts are cast, with some plastics in certain areas. The only machined part that I could see is the coarse adjustment tube. The leg spikes are straight (not bent like some reviews here & elsewhere). The rest that I got (manufactured June '14), comes with a bubble level again. Very nice. There is no wobble in the windage adjustment, although it is possible to adjust for this in case there was. There are no stripped screws or threads anywhere. Threads are all tapped properly and should allow adequate torquing to keep adjustments tight. The fit between the base hole and coarse adjustment tube is a tad loose for my liking, but as long as you don't extend this rest to its maximum height, the rest should stay stable. I read a review in Cabela's where a customer resorted to installing a brass tube inside the hole of the base in order to get a tighter vertical fit. That would be a nice option if you have access to a machine shop. However, for this price-point, you get a cast rest with a cast-in hole that's merely polished inside. The only way to tighten the vertical adjustment is by the adjustment screws. What can I say? I prefer a machined rest with tighter hole specs that's American made, but I cannot afford it. This Caldwell rest is an amazing value for value-minded individuals like me. And of course, Amazon's awesome price with an additional $10.00 discount made this deal even better.

Sturdiness and Adjustability
Very sturdy Front rest to say the least. Well designed and built. Having the fie adjustment setting for elevation is key. Airgun and Firearm shooter here.

I can now use this on a smooth table surface with my bench rest so it limits slip and protects the table.
