Decent at best but perhaps the only option at this price point
Bought one and roller stopped turning freely. Result: roller scrapes on stone. This wears the stone and the roller. I tried cleaning and oiling the seized roller but nothing would free it up. I even tried to manually rotate it with pliers after oiling. No luck.Replaced it.New one working fine so far...Not aware of alternative options at this price point but I will look for better quality next time around.I have used on planer blade twice and 1 chisel. It worked fine.

Misaligned jaws ensure poor sharpening.
I received the item this afternoon and since I was using a chisel when it arrived I figured it would be a good time to check it out. Starting out with a medium diamond sharpener I set the chisel up to begin honing the main bevel. After a few strokes I took a look at the chisel and noticed that it was honing on a skew. Upon investigation I saw that one of the jaws that holds the tool was noticeably higher than the other ensuring that it would certainly always sharpen on a skew unless you intentionally compensated for that. Too bad. It's such a simple concept, but execution failed. I'll be returning it tomorrow.

Sharper chisels
Just what I needed for having sharper chisels this works great on maintaining the correct alignment and angle the sturdiness of the cast iron is a plus, Will need a little tweaking of the unit to fit properly on the chisel set I have and with file can be done easily overall a great product.

Great little tool to restore a fine edge.
I picked this out to refinish the edge on several Stanley planes that I acquired from my grandfather. I was able to use my diamond homes to put a perfect edge on those old blades. My new / old planes are able to make perfect curly q cuttings. Recommend this to anyone that needs help honing cutting tools.

Works well
Provided me exactly what I needed to bring an old neglected framing chisel back to life. Handled the 2 inch width with no problem. Roller and stainless steel hardware furniture of the tool makes it excellent for working with a true wet stone using water.

Sides are uneven, leading to a skewed blade when sharpening smaller chisels.
I bought this as a last ditch effort to avoid dropping the big bucks on a Veritas honing guide set. When clamping a narrow blade, the sides don't line up exactly, so the blade ends up slightly skewed. I returned this guide.

Works perfectly
I’ve used these guides for years to sharpen my chisels and hand plane blades. Keeps perfect angle, allows me to keep my tools sharp and true. I’m a career cabinet maker and woodworker of 27 years, so I live by my tools.

good product - good price
I had not used one of these jigs to sharpen any tool in the past - what a great idea! The only issue is that when attached to a blade you will need a fairly long sharpening stone. At least 8 inches to work.

Adequate at best
No instructions or guides provided so if you don’t know what you’re doing, hard to know what angle you’re grinding at. Needs some modification to be square.
