RARE Information! Simple & Safe Cures for Mental Health Issues
Dr Mathews-Larsen has provided the world with a PRECIOUS GIFT in documenting her protocols in a book that anyone can access. This book SAVED my life, so of course there is no stronger recommendation possible. It's easy to read and follow. She explains how prescription drugs do more harm than good and were actually designed to mimic the action of nutrients! After more than a decade of career crashing, debilitating chronic fatigue, Dr Larsen's simple, safe nutrient protocols healed my poor sleep, normalized my moods, eliminated my anxiety, stabilized my blood sugar, gave me physical ENERGY & mental FOCUS and also many side bonuses like improving my eyesight and eliminating water retention. (Amino acids are MIRACULOUS!) She provides very RARE information about various nutritional deficiencies that cause depression, anxiety, and addictions, pointing to easy physical CURES for illnesses that seemed intractable. This book is amazingly complete & thorough yet also concise. This a a PRACTICAL book on how to get better, not a book of theory. I love how she provides symptom checklists but also tells you where you can get lab testing done, too. I didn't use Dr Larsen's supplements, since I found them cheaper on iherb.com, which has the KRAZY-great prices on supplements! I recommend Anabol Naturals for the aminos (the blend is 99% the same as Dr Larsen's & is pharmaceutical grade.)Dr Larsen's book provides enough information to heal yourself. However, in case you have pyroluria, I'd like to provide a few extra tips based on my experience. Because pyroluria causes zinc deficiency, you will automatically have copper toxicity. So you must realize that you will definitely go thru an uncomfortable healing crisis at some point as you detoxify excess copper. Google "copper toxicity" and you will find excellent information by Lawrence Wilson, MD. I also recommend googling "healing crisis."In addition to this book, I also recommend "Nutrient Power" by Dr Bill Walsh. If you read these two books you will be on the forefront of the future of mental health. Incredible amounts of needless suffering is happening on this planet just because of simple nutrient deficiencies. Our bodies do not have pharmaceutical deficiencies...the human body is designed to run on amino acids, vitamins & minerals, and natural hormones, not prescription drugs! Once you heal yourself with Dr Larsen's protocols, please consider doing just a little bit to promote this information among your communities, because it truly is no less than life saving. Best wishes in your healing journey.

Fantastic book for moods/ addictions ect
I bought this book used along with Niacin The real Story , Hoffer MD, PhD and The Mood Cure, J Ross, MD.I purchased all three used here on Amazon. Super books with checklists and recommendations for foods and supplements. This book is not just for depression. I don't know why Dr's don't know about amino acid therapy. Educated your physician after you implement the information yourself. Our foods are lacking in minerals and complete amounts amino acids. I saw a dramatic change in just a few days! Best $5 dollars I have ever spent! Good luck to all. Depression and addiction/despair is real. Help yourself now.

A Little Out of Date but Great Info
Larson's book is a little out of date (when written, tryptophan was only available by prescription in the USA), but the information still appears to be valid. She identifies different types of biochemical problems that relate to depression, anxiety, etc., and you choose which combination of nutrients to focus on based of self-evaluation of symptoms (though she does tell you where you can go to get certain lab tests done). I like that Larson recommendes against the use of 5HTP and explains why. Also, she tells you what additional supplements you must take with tryptophan for it to be properly absorbed and utilized by the brain. Many people try tryptophan without relief; this may be why.I was initially put off by the beginning of the book, as it appeared that she was going to link ALL problems to hypoglycemia. Not so. As you go on, the information and suggestions add considerations of supplements that you need, even if you are already on a Paleo or low-starch/no sugar diet. Finally, though the Larson kindle edition does not have page numbers, there are "active links" throughout the book where she refers to other chapters or pages. There is also an appendix with a very abbreviated index, that also has active links to the applicable chapters and sections.

The tittle explains all
I like books that explain how to heal naturally, and although I don't have depression I know people who have. It explained several things that were relevant to me and that I had not found elsewhere. Well worth the read and to put the recommendations into practice. It explains about why depression occurs and what can be done with food and supplements to cure it. Well worth the read.

Every human needs to read this book
Every human needs to read this book. Everyone who deals with (occasional or otherwise) anger, depression, anxiety, addiction (food, alcohol, etc), or even allergies. I read through it and lent it to my mother to read it and we both learned a lot. I have yet to purchase the recommended vitamins and other remedies (I'm a broke student) but from what I've heard from others who followed the guide it works miracles. The only thing that would make this book better is an UPDATE!! But even without the update the information inside is amazing.

Sehr empfehlenswert!
