It's fine, but many grammar/punctuation errors
My daughter loves the LEGO dragon kits and the short cartoon they made, so I bought this to read as a bedtime story (she's 6). It's fine, the story kept her interested and it is unique from what's in the cartoon series (a backstory that precedes the cartoon). That being said though, there are MANY grammar and punctuation errors in the book. I found myself frequently correcting the English as I read. I would not recommend for a child reading independently as it sets a poor example.

Emily’s Unexpected Journey
Quest for the Keys (LEGO Elves: Chapter Book #1) by Stacia Deustch And Scholastic tells the tale of the character of Emily Jones who sees the world through bright rich colors partially because of her grandmother. Both Emily’s parents also happen to love her dearly. However, the fact that Emily’s parents Are both Scientists who strongly believe in the necessity of proof for certain theories influences the fact that she has to be mindful of what she says to them. Anyhow, Emily’s life gets dramatically changed when she ends up in A mystical world called Elvendale with fortunately friendly inhabitants who Are willing to help her find her way back to her chosen destination. There is also a listed 23 minute Lego Elves movie that helps greatly in filling in the details of this colorful family friendly story. As An Aspiring writer/screenwriter I enjoyed how both the Lego Elves story And the film show the power of belief and friendship.

She loved them, and she is not much of a ...
We purchased this book along with the sequel for our daughter's birthday. She loved them, and she is not much of a reader. She loves the Lego Elves series, and has bought a few of the sets with her own money, so we thought this might be a good fit. It was - as soon as she got the books she started reading them and finished in one sitting. Now when she plays with her lego sets she has a "backstory" that she uses based on the books, LOL.

Goes great w the matching lego set
Got this for my younger niece (she is almost 8 yrs old) to go with a lego building set that matched it; she seemed very excited about it and as she flipped through the book she told me she could read it by herself for sure (I wasn't sure if it would be too hard for her). It's the first in a series, so perhaps I'll buy more of this book series and it's matching legos for future gifts. :)

Awesome Book to go with Lego Gifts
This book is a perfect gift to go with any of the Legos Elves Stuff. They are awesome and the kids really love them . There are also videos on youtube that share the Story of the Lego Elves . Lego Elves Youtube Movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Otnwyl3Cw-4 . The book is for 8-10 Year olds i would guess i am not sure the exact age. Awesome art on the front and its a Chapter book . Very thin though . My daughter was amazed that " Santa" knew that she wanted it even though she never put it on her Christmas list. Thanks Santa and you Amazon.

"It is my favorite book and I'm very picky with books. It makes kids who don't like to read, read a lot more. If your kid likes to read adventure stories this would be a perfect book for them."-9 yr old Alex

Legos found the key to "girl" personalities without throwing pink and flowers at us.
Love that Lego has come up with a design that is attractive to girls but isn't all pink and flowers. My 9 year old loves this set. There's the books to inspire imagination - she's built the designs as they were presented, then read the book (now there are two) and used her other sets to simply create from her imagination. My older son (15) felt comfortable curled up with her and playing and designing and didn't complain that it was "girly". Love it!

Five Stars
My reluctant reader really liked this book. She also loves this lego series that goes along with it.

Pleasant enough
This is a nice story. You don't need to have the lego play sets to enjoy the book but if you have the lego play sets then I think the book will add significantly to you and/or your child's playing experience. The book is printed on cheap paper, but is reasonably priced, and follows what I would call a typical fairy book structure. Human meets elves, befriends them and they have to solve puzzles/overcome obstacles on an adventure together. The book is not over-challenging although does include reference to the death of a grandparent which leads to the adventure, so take that into account depending upon your own circumstances. Would have been nice to have had a few pictures within the book so half a star knocked off for that. Although the book was mostly well-written, in my opinion the puzzles/riddles that needed to be solved were a bit disappointing - a big build up and then "oh, I've got it, lets try this" either being very obvious or very tenuous - so half a star knocked off for that too. Overall though, my daughter and I enjoyed reading this (and I wouldn't let the wife read any chapters as I wanted to know what happened myself). I would say good for age range 5 to 9 although at the younger end of that range the poignancy in parts will probably not be appreciated.

Good story for young readers
Good story about working together and finding new friends. My 8 year old loves this story and the next one on. Works well with the actual lego which you can use to re-create the story in the book.
