Very sturdy tool
Used it in the fall and winter to skim the pond. Used it yesterday in mucking the pond. First, caught three big goldfish with it, one at a time, to remove to a bucket while cleaning the pond. Used the tined side to get up leaves, twigs, etc. after draining the pond partway. Used the other side to scrape up sludge and muck. Also picked up several good-sized rocks and bricks that had fallen into the pond over the past couple of years without the net ripping. The handle is very sturdy and did not bend under the weight of heavy bricks, nor did the frame around the net. My only wish is that the "scrapey side" was rubbery, more like a squeegee-type thing, because it would do a much better job of getting up muck and stuff on the sides of the pond. The scrapey side did scrape nicely, but I was left looking around for something to get the muckety stuff. (I realize I should find and use some other sort of tool for this purpose. The pond came with the house when I purchased it a couple of years ago, and I know next to nothing about pond maintenance, nor do I want to spend a great deal of time and money on it, so I am learning as I go and am really quite happy with my little pond.)I bought this item based on reviews of it here on Amazon, and I must say, it worked completely as advertised. As a multi-purpose tool for a pond, it was reasonably priced and saved me money over buying several different tools to accomplish all the things this one tool did.

Top Quality Pond Net...
When I ordered the Radius Garden 501P Pond Shark Pro Water Garden Tool, I did so on the basis of the reviews on the non-telescoping version. When I took it out of the package, it didn't look very strong. However, when I extended the handle, I found that it would do so with just a twist of the handle, and could be locked at any length. And it seemed of sturdy construction.I took it out to my pond and the net weave looked too big. When I put it in the pond and scooped out the muck, it did so without the handle bending, or the muck dripping through the net. It was very impressive. [The net can be used with one side of the rim as a scraper, the other side as a rake, with the net between the two types of rims.]To sum up, it works perfectly.Every once in a while a product excels. This is one of those items. There is no fine print, no disclaimers, just real value.

Nothin but net.
Needed a new net and found this online. Seemed like a good idea.So far, so good. Sturdy, decently balanced. The hooks for grabbing algae work okay although if I really want the algae out I'm still on hands and knees grabbing it near the root. I do find the hooks useful for untangling plant roots that hang in to the pond and it will get some of the looser algae.I do wish the diameter of the net was a little bigger and the handle a bit more extendable. If you're okay with the size this seems like a good purchase.

Alright
Like another reviewer said, it would be nice if the smooth side was more like a squeegy versus being rigid. It seems to hold a good amount of weight without tearing. The pole is sturdy enough not to bend when fully extended and with some weight in it. One thing that I didn't like about it is that when you are pulling it through the water and it is full, the pole comes untightened and shortens. I had to keep extending it and retightening it several times. If it would stay fully extended and stay tightly opened up, it would be a lot better. The rake side is not shapr per se, but it is very rigid. Be very carfeul if you have fish in your pond not to injure them with it. I move it through the water very slowly when they are close so that I don't scrape or poke them with the points.

Great tool
I have a moderate sized , And I frequently have to clear up the debris that accumulates on the surface. This is a aluminum pole with a telescoping , And I frequently have to clear up the debris that accumulates on the surface. This is a aluminum pole with a telescoping Seckman Segment. The basket/netIs of a lightweight and flexible plastic. The periphery of the basket has rake like extensions that allow the user to grab segments of the debris and vegetation. Overall, this is a lightweight yet durable feeling too good I won’t use, hopefully, for many years to come.

It's OK - but I will keep looking................
I had high hopes for this net.Unfortunately, I can't give it much more than a 3 star rating. I does not scoop close to the bottom and pick up debris as well as my last larger net. Also, it is very frustrating to me that the telescoping handle slips while in use - even if adjusted as tightly as I can tighten it - so a few times I almost went head first into the pond :0( Only way to stop this would be to put a screw through the handle - and negate the telescoping handle!I will keep it but have decided to spent a few minutes sewing the netting in my old net. It still works the best. The netting in this one is also courser - just does not have a comfortable feel in my hand like the older aluminum one.

Best pond net ever!
I have been looking for this net for some time now, just did not know it would be this net. Very easy to extend shaft and lock into place with 3/4 a turn. The plastic, metal and netting are a very high quality. The scoop lip makes it easy to lift small pebbles and debris from the pond liner. Works better than advertised even in murky water. I have a medium pond, 8X11 feet kidney shaped. Ask any questions I will be happy to answer your questions.

Great for sharp underwater surfaces
I can write a good comment for this product: it's superb for ponds that have sharp surfaces like rocks or broken tile surfaces. That's exactly what we have and I have long needed a skimmer-net that would not tear or get snagged. This one is perfect because it has a great plastic hoop which fastens the net and serves as a rake in one direction, a scoop in the other, and is well designed and large enough that it protects the net when you push or pull it anywhere in the pond. The netting is well made, too, but the hoop protects it very well. No snagging! I really like this.

Good price, multipurpose pond tool
Good price compared to that of other Canadian online pond supplies vendors (half the price in my case). Sturdy. I bought it as a multipurpose tool (move small rocks on bottom of the pond, grab string algea, skim debris), long telescopic handle (up to 8 feet).
