Good little book
A small book that managed to get this sometimes cynical, seen-it-all reviewer smiling and engaged by its sheer uniqueness and overall attractiveness. Yet it is still only things on sticks!Pie Pops, savoury (or sweet) pies in miniature, affixed to lollipop sticks, is what this little book focusses on. Great for parties, lunches and just being different. Visually appealing and capable of evoking a child-like inner passion to what might otherwise be a fairly normal, yet wholesome, offering. At its core is something not so involved or elaborate, a bit of filling encased in an outer. Haute cuisine it is not. Taste is down to the skill of the cook. Yet add a lollipop stick, maybe a slightly different form and it looks a whole, whole lot different. It is true, we often eat with our eyes. The author has done a great job, aided by a talented photographer, in bringing this concept to life, creating a form of engagement and interest that many books sadly lack. It is just one of those things you hadn't probably thought you needed, or wanted, yet after just browsing the book it has tipped your expectations on its head, leading to you having to find an excuse to get in the kitchen and make some of these little delights. One of the great things about this book is that it is a springboard to even more things, you are restricted only by your imagination and possibly what other recipes (for fillings, etc.) you have at hand. Take for example the "Pumpkin Pie Pops". A Halloween-specific dish in all honesty. Change the design on the front a tad, amend the filling a little, and maybe you could have an Easter Rabbit Pop, a Father Christmas Mincemeat Pop and so on. Some of the recipes will be firm favourites, if not through their sheer awesome visual appearance alone. Sweet and savoury recipes are catered for. Each recipe is very well written, all-encompassing and full of various hints and tips. You would be advised to at least skim through all of the recipes at least once and read the various guidance on offer, especially if you intend to go experimenting in the future. There's not a lot more to add. There's a wealth of recipes, designs and ideas. The book has carefully managed to make it not just something "on sticks" but a totally new art form. Cake Pops have become a bit of a trend in some quarters in recent times, yet these Pie Pops look timeless, classical and yet rather futuristic in some way too. Colour me impressed, there's some cooking to be done!

They would go down great at a buffet
Don't think I would use them as "lollipops " but as mini pies they are smashing. Some unusual recipes. They would go down great at a buffet. Roll on Christmas.

Interesting and different!
Good little book for recipes and getting ideas. I was disappointed there weren't more savoury recipes (it's very biased towards sweet), but you can adapt what's there and it's relatively easy to change ingredients. Plenty of images (always useful!), but remember you'll need to find lollipop sticks and mini tartlet tins are useful too.I would recommend this, don't be put off by it being American - you can find equivalents of ingredients if you look on the internet.

Etliche gute Ideen
