Simplicity Simply the Best Sewing Book: The Essential Reference for All Home Sewers

I just received my second copy of this book and gave to my sister. Both of us are learning to sew at later stage of life. The book is very informative, well organized with pictures to explain. I've had mine 3 to 4 months now and there hasn't been a single problem I couldn't find an answer to in this book. I am truly a beginner and the book is wonderful!

I bought this book to help a friend learn to handsew and it's perfect for a beginner and an old timer like me!!

This was a gift but they said it was a very helpful book.

I purchased the newest version of this book so that I could give my daughter my 1988 version, but upon receiving it decided that it was not as easy to use. One of the most frustrating features was the index. In the 1988 version under "binding" it would state "edgestitched application, 135-36; making your own, 133-135, etc. In the newest version it would state "binding 20, 27, 95, 98, 121, etc. Any page that had the word "binding" on it would be listed so I found myself having to search the 20+ pages to find what I needed. I am sending this back and will purchase the old one for my daughter.

I have picked up sewing for my family and home again after many years away form it. This book offers great tips, short-cuts, and "refresher" steps. I borrowed it from the library, and then bought it for myself! A great asset to any homemakers library! For beginner to advanced sewing skills.

The book was in very good condition and shipped as expected. The only issue was some of the page tabs were bent but I will reinforce them and they will be fine.

This is a great reference book for sewing. I have had an older edition and refer to it often. I bought the new edition for my Granddaughter. Hopefully it willencourage her to sew.PR

Handy reference. I am an experienced sewer, but have been away from sewing for awhile. This helped and brought me up to date on some newer things/techniques available. Good for a beginning sewer as well.

I had bought a very old version of this in the 90s and used it to help me go from a beginner sewer to an intermediate sewer. It is clear and concise and there are many illustrations to help you through. The current version is even better than the one I originally had and I highly recommend.

Its good for home sewing work~

I love the content of the book and find it easy to understand, my only criticism is the ring binding, I can see that it will not stay in the cardboard that it is attached to for long. It would have been better if it was bound

Great book, fast shipping

Very, very disappointed with this book, feels cheap & nasty, like someone has photocopied the original for you. Didn't like the wire binding aspect either, not very secure, can't see that lasting very long.The majority of the diagrams/instructions are printed onto, or in a very dark blue, making the black text difficult to read - a very bad idea!!I already own a Simplicity sewing book which I purchased in 1978 and this is far better, clearer and more informative than this version. I think I will be reverting back to using that rather than this so called more up-dated version.It's awful, I hate everything about it.
