I was super excited for this book
I was super excited for this book! I loved that it tells you EXACTLY what to eat DAILY! It has a weekly shopping list and tells you exactly what to buy including quantities, breakfast/lunch/dinner/snack recipes... very easy... BUT the weekly grocery list is extremely long and difficult to find at one store, which was disappointing. The author stated that the initial week's list would be long bc I had basically nothing to start with.. hence I was ok with that, but then after completing the first week I looked at the list for the 2nd and 3rd weeks and just felt let down, lied to, and discouraged. Those lists felt even longer bc there were NEW things to buy that were not on the week prior, including new pantry staples...and of course I had to replenish what I had used the week before so it felt like I was starting over again... and it became too costly. And the recipes do take longer than the prep/cook time listed in the book... example: breakfast is quinoa almond flour muffin - 10 min prep, 25 min cook... but one of the ingredients is "cooked quinoa." Now I do not have cooked quinoa just laying around, it took me another 15 mins to make that... etc etc. So if you have time, money, motivation then this is an awesome starter.

It's a nice book if you don't have a lot of food ...
Even though there are recipes in the book, a person has to buy things that are way too expensive and I need the internet to find out what they are.If I could have looked through the book before buying, I wouldn't have bought. I have IBS-D and I'm diabetic. This book is not for me. I have too many food sensitivities to eat the recipes from this book. Most of the foods consist of onions, and garlic which is not something I can eat. It's a nice book if you don't have a lot of food sensitivities, but it's not for me.

While it is a good book for the diet
I had just heard of the Microbiome diet when I purchased this book. While it is a good book for the diet, it is better to purchase a book just on the diet, not on a diet plan, first, This book confused me because I didn't know anything about the diet. After I purchased a book on just the Microbiome Diet, then I understood this book. Learn about the diet first, before you purchase this one.

I am losing weight and feel great!
The author did a great job of putting together a very easy to follow plan for improving gut health and losing weight. I appreciate the shopping lists and menu plans with recipes. The only caution is to those who are preparing meals for one. Most recipes are 4 servings. I advise single readers to look through the shopping list and menus before you begin. I found that I had way too many groceries and a ton of leftovers. I have found most of the recipes very delicious , quick and easy to prepare. I highly recommend this book!

Canola Oil? Snacking? Anti-meat.
An advocate of using CANOLA oil, snacking and eliminating meat is NOT what my gut wants–-& yes, I make my own kombucha, kimchi, sauerkraut, vinegar, yogurt ... but NO CANOLA (it's unhealthy attributes go beyond the Ω-6 issue), NO snacking and plenty of grass-fed beef, butter, eggs for me. Bottom line: get Sandor Ellix Katz's "Wild Fermentation" or "The Art of Fermentation; or, Redzepi & Zilber's "Noma Guide to Fermentation."

Not Dr Mullin's Gut Balance Plan
I purchased this book as recommended by a friend who knew I was going to follow The Gut Balance Revolution book by Dr Gerard Mullin. I needed more recipes, and it referenced Dr Mullin, so I got it.However while this book may use Dr Mullin's information, this book does not follow his plan to correct your gut balance. Dr Mullin uses a 3-phase approach; weed, reseed, feed. This book is coordinated by and notes Dr Mullin, but does not follow his food lists for each phase, that's important to know. It also has 2 phases, skips Phase 1 of weeding out the overgrowth of unwanted stuff in your gut. So that's the choice you have to make.I'll be be adapting the suitable recipes from this book, following Dr Mullin's food lists per phase.

disappointment
Can't tell you how disappointed i am in this book. It's extremely basic and the quality is very poor. it looks as if someone rushed into writing a book about this subject and the result is this. As a person who is interested in this subject, its a huge disappointment.

easy to follow plan
For a simple, easy to follow plan, this is fantastic. I was hoping for more in depth information on the microbiome itself. The "informational" portion is only ~20 sparsely filling pages. However, the recipes are very simple, easy to shop for and easy to prep. The shopping list is well organized and specific. If you already know all you want to about the microbiome, this book will be a great addition to your health journey.

For Americans and no pictures of recipes
Tried so hard to read this book, but it is impossible. All American foods featured in the recipes and no pictures, so not sure what you're trying to achieve.
