This Book Is The Bible of Smoothies - Best Smoothie Book I Own (and I have about 15 of them)
This is not just a recipe book (though there are no shortage of those). This book actually teaches you specifics of how to make a smoothie so that you can concoct one on your own rather than just following someone else's recipes. Right off the bat, this book begins educating the reader on the categories of ingredients that go into making a smoothie and provides a list of specific liquids, veggies, fruits, etc. that you can use in each category to produce the smoothie taste and texture you want. It then goes on to describe different spices that you can add to your smoothie to kick up the flavor a notch. A description is given of each spice, that includes it flavor profile and its nutritional benefit. It then moves on to troubleshooting problem smoothies (i.e. smoothies that are to thick, too runny, not sweet enough, etc). But one of my favorite features of this book is how the author classifies the smoothies by the readers desired goal (i.e. for weight loss, meal replacement, high in protein etc.).If you only ever buy one smoothie book.... I'd highly recommend this one. It's packed full of useful information that you won't find in the run-of-the-mill smoothie recipe book. The author is obviously very knowledgeable about nutrition and she doesn't hold back in sharing her knowledge with the reader.

Good recipes, sound information, and plenty of options
-- but then, you're not reading this for the writing, are you?Koslo's knowledge is all you'd expect from an RD/CSSD who challenges herself to keep learning. The need for an editor shows only in the introduction. Koslo can write a recipe, convey information, give explanations, and offer options, so that every reader can get the most from smoothies and smoothie bowls -- thick, spoonable smootihes served with nutritious garnishes.Koslo has grounded her recommendations in research that won't be outdated in an instant. Her reasons for drinking smoothies (eating more produce, increasing your mineral and vitamin intake, adding fiber to your diet . . . ) are sound, even if some of them are predicated on the assumption that readers are fast-food junkies who are trading high-sodium takeaway meals for healthful, homemade smoothies. She covers smoothie basics, from liquids to mix-ins; sets spices in the contexts of flavor, nutritional benefits, volume, and pairings; and offers mix-and-match charts. With those tools, a culinary neophyte can concoct excellent smoothies. Be warned, though: the print on those charts is tiny. In charts, the size cannot be adjusted.Koslo also lists items and relatively inexpensive/convenient alternatives by section: liquid, ingredients to add texture, fruits, healthy fats, proteins, vegetables, and supplemental add-ins. Her trouble-shooting section is clear and to-the-point.Sections include Detox and Cleanse, Inflammation Fighters, Weight Loss and Diabetes, Digestion Support, Brain and Energy Boosters, Heart Healthy, and Immune Support. Recipes are easy to follow and adapt. There's something for just about every need, craving, and diet. Koslo's professionalism shines in the recipes: attention to detail, carefully constructed flavors and textures, nutritional information, and recommended tweaks.I received this product for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Smoothies for a healthy alternative!!
Last year I discovered the benefits of making smoothies; however, I did not keep up with this beneficial “food” alternative. I was then pleasantly pleased to receive this book, Healthy Smoothie Recipe Book, in an effort jumpstart my healthy eating again. This book was very well laid out, and I appreciated the beginning “chapters” on the benefits of drinking smoothies, great spice alternatives (which I had overlooked as an option; spices are not just for cooked foods), and ingredient substitutes.I was immediately drawn to the Detox and Cleanse chapter, as I still feel the Holiday splurge upon me!! (Lol) I loved the recipe combinations, as well as, the recipe highlights to include if the smoothie was “low calorie, high fiber, etc.” My favorite…the Lemon-Lime Spinach Cleanser! This was so good! I added everything but the fig (not on hand) and the banana (not a fan), but I did add some cayenne pepper! Another chapter I really, really appreciated was the one for digestion support. Who doesn’t need this??The remaining recipes seem so refreshing, healthy and easy to make. I would suggest that you read this book and pick a few recipes for the week and make a trip to the grocery store, as some ingredients needed for your likes may not be readily available in your frig ( coconut water, fresh ginger, figs, chia seeds, hemp powder). Don’t be dismayed however, as this is when the ingredient swap comes in handy.I would have loved to have this book with a spiral or more easily bendable binder to keep open as I was making my smoothie and checking out recipes.Disclaimer-I received this product for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Well explained.
I was disappointed with the quality of the pages and I would have preferred ingredients to have translated quantities to either metric or Imperial measurements as cups mean nothing to me! I found myself searching for an old discarded plastic set I’d bought and used once or twice before. The recipes are well explained though so when I have more time I will sit down and go through it.
